I have to say as a veteran dealing with Financial aid and VR&E the school itself does not practice good accounting procedures and does not post payments on a students account in a timely manner. They have VR&E pay through Tungsten which is an interest bearing account. Earlier this year around April or May they switched from immediate processing of payments on the account which took place around week 2 to processing around week 9. They do not communicate with students or the VA about these policy... Read More

The faculty on the other hand are amazing, especially in the history department. I have had very few professors if any I did not enjoy working with. They challenge the way you think. The history program requires a lot of reading and writing and more so if you aspire to work on a thesis.

I started attending AMU in 2010 when I was active duty. I completed a portion of my English degree but decided to transfer to a traditional college for Microbiology. That didn't pan out for me and decided to return to AMU in 2018. I completed my BA English and immediately enrolled in the MA Military History program. I have not had any issues with instructors, most of my issues were with technical issues. I am preparing to begin a second Master's Degree at AMU.

Exceptional learning institution, those complaining are lazy and don't want to put forth the effort to earn a degree. This institution have some of the best instructor's. They are very knowledgeable about their subject areas. The best online institution.

College was such an incredible opportunity to expand my horizons, not only in my chosen field but in several others. I found new authors I loved that I would have never read before. It taught me to think critically about problems and issues, to try to look at all sides of an argument.

A good online college to apply that will help you to achieve your academic goals if you work hard in your studies.

American Military University renewed my faith that I could do a master's, after my alma mater failed to provide me with the support I needed. It is not easy being a military spouse who might get uprooted on short notice, but AMU understands the needs of the military and their spouses. The process to apply was so easy, the staff has been helpful and involved the whole way. Teachers are experts in their fields and my fellow students are there for all the right reasons. I'm truly grateful to be a student... Read More

I am in the middle of obtaining an M.A. in Global History via their online learning environment. The good: APUS makes it very easy to apply and submit materials online. The account page is very intuitive, and there is a link for just about everything. Also, it's the cheapest route to obtaining a Masters. The bad: Books aren't finalized until the day classes start, which is annoying and unpractical. A few professors have been very kind and helpful, but the majority are not. Course expectations are... Education is what you make of it, whether you're Abraham Lincoln reading second hand books and mastering the law or you're a rich child attending Harvard Law because your parents went. AMU/APUS is no different. There will always be some professors who are better than others, and there will be some classes with a heavier workload or a unique curriculum requiring extra discipline. Some courses I've taken, especially in my graduate studies, have been incredibly challenging and time consuming, with one... Read More

I received an MA in history and a Graduate Certificate from AMU. I have to admit, I was thoroughly impressed by the attention and quick responses from my professors. AMU actually requires its professors to be very active in their courses. The programs were thorough and well structured. The program director was extremely helpful, as were the live chat options and advisers. For the sake of not sounding like a drone post sent by the university, I would also like to admit that I was very weary of enrolling... Read More

First let me disclose that I am a card carrying member of MENSA, yet despite that, I did not receive an A in every class. I did however graduate with a GPA high enough to be inducted into three (3) different international honor societies. The studies for my Master's Degree were academically challenging yet very achievable. I finished my degree program in December of 2014 and will be receiving my degree in February of 2015. The quality of the professors has been wonderful. I have had a few good professors,... Read More

Some of these points are, pointless, in that APUS is an online school only. I have attended the school for both an undergraduate degree in Military History, and am now completing and MA in the same. The instructors are fantastic, school support staff are easy to get to and provide excellent assistance. If you are self-motivated and can write (a must in an online class) then APUS is worth looking at for your academic needs.

I had professors who had earned their PhDs at places like Berkeley. A couple of them affected my life in wonderful ways. The librarians are wholly devoted to the students. The quality of education was better than I thought it would be. I attended because it was more affordable, but the knowledge I acquired was worth more than the cost of education.

Most of the applications do not apply to my particular program... such as transportation and housing. But for an online program and facility, it is really great to have this access and people who understand the demands of graduate courses online.

A very good online program, one of the best in comparison to other other online programs. Lacks some of the competitiveness of a traditional brick and mortar school , but the Professors all have diverse backgrounds, with many coming from the military and academy backgrounds.

This school is my only experience with a grad program. I cannot imagine any other program being any more intensive. The instructors are amazing, the workload strenuous and the education that I'm receiving seems amazing. It remains to be seen if I'll be able to get a job with this degree.

This is an online program which makes it easily accessible and affordable. While the workload is good it can sometimes be overwhelming considering the majority of the students hold full-time jobs and have families.

I have absolutely zero cons to the program. Having just started it would be hard to, however thus far (and having attained my BA at this University) I have had nothing but the best guidance and success.
