Why Choose an UU直播?

You may choose an online college because of its flexibility, diversity in curricula, and affordability. UU直播 education continues to expand, with taking at least one course online in 2020. The also finds that the global pandemic has profoundly impacted online education quality, generating increased technical proficiency and learning style adaptability.

Online colleges and degrees are also respected by employers, making them even more appealing.

You can choose programs in popular fields, including business, psychology, biology, history, and nursing. While some majors require an onsite supervised internship or practicum, a program advisor can help you find opportunities near your home. You may also choose from traditional programs or accelerated degrees which may cut the time you spend in college by almost half, depending on the degree level and your prior experience.

UU直播s vs In-Person Programs

Online colleges and in-person programs are relatively comparable, but some key differences exist. For example, there may be greater accessibility to online programs if your course of study is unavailable locally or if you have challenges navigating a college campus due to a disability. These factors can also lend to the convenience of attending school online, especially if you work full-time and balance other responsibilities.

Accredited online colleges and in-person programs typically offer the same academic rigor and are often taught by the same instructors. However, online colleges may have a unique advantage over in-person programs because they can host instructors and guest speakers worldwide to share their expertise and enhance your learning experience.

For more information about studying online, explore our Guide to Starting Your Online Education, where we cover the online learning format.

Which Colleges Are Completely Online?

Aspen University, Shiloh University, and California Coast University are completely online and are the top three most affordable schools on our list. The top three most popular schools include Western Governors University and Southern New Hampshire University which are both 100% online, and the University of Phoenix, which is primarily online but may require some on-campus work. Our list offers a mix of accredited nonprofit and for-profit online colleges and universities, including many military-friendly options.

How Many UU直播s and Universities Are There?

According to the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), there were offering fully or primarily online programs in the U.S. as of 2020. These colleges and universities include public and private, and nonprofit and for-profit institutions.

UU直播 Accreditation and Legitimacy

Institutional accreditation ensures a school meets high academic standards by passing a voluntary peer review conducted by a DE-recognized agency and is the first step to legitimizing a school. It also means that you are eligible to use your federal financial aid to help pay tuition. Additionally, degree programs may be programmatically accredited by professional organizations ensuring student outcomes meet industry standards.

It's important to note that a few online schools known as "diploma mills" are not legitimate. One way these schools try to disguise themselves is by proclaiming accreditation that's actually from a fictitious agency. Other telltale signs of a diploma mill include a ".com" URL, minimal enrollment requirements or none at all, tuition paid by the degree and not the term or course, and any promises that seem too good to be true 鈥 and probably are.

The or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation () can help verify accreditation. All of the schools listed on OnlineU are institutionally accredited.

Finding the Right UU直播

Finding the right online college is crucial to your success and career potential. However, once you pick a college that's legitimate and accredited, you should consider the following questions before applying:

Question Where To Find the Answers
Does the school's program include a concentration, area of emphasis, or electives to help you achieve your career goals? You can usually find this information on OnlineU's program pages or the school website's program page 鈥 our degree guides are also a great place to start.
Do you prefer asynchronous courses to let you complete assignments on your own time each week, or do you like synchronous classes requiring you to log in at specific days and times? Course delivery information can usually be found on OnlineU's program pages or the school website's program page.
Does the school provide financial aid? What percentage of the student body receives assistance, and what is the average award? You can find a school's financial aid information at .
What student services are available to you as an online student and future alumni? A list of student services can usually be found on the student resources section of a school's website.
What are the school's graduation and retention rates? You can check these numbers on .
What is the ROI for graduates? How does the program's cost compare to your potential for increased earnings over the life of your career? OnlineU's rankings provide ROI and salary information.

Applying to UU直播

Applying to an online college is generally the same as applying to attend on campus. Schools typically require you to submit the following:

Financial Aid for Online Students

Financial aid is available for online students. You can apply for federal aid by completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to see if you qualify for grants, scholarships, work-study, or low-interest federal student loans with flexible repayment options.

You may also qualify for private scholarships, which are like getting free money that doesn't have to be repaid. Your school may also award scholarships funded by benefactors and former alumni. Your school's financial aid office can help you find scholarships that you may be eligible for.

Other sources of financial aid may include , employer-paid tuition reimbursement programs, and private loans. However, if you apply for private loans, do so with caution, as interest rates can be high and repayment options limited.

FAQs About UU直播s

Is UU直播 Cheaper?

Online college can be cheaper than on-campus because schools may waive campus fees and charge flat rate tuition regardless of residency. In addition, books and learning materials may be available online for a low cost or even free. You also won't incur the expense of commuting to and parking on campus.

Are Online Degrees Legitimate?

Online degrees are legitimate if an ED-approved agency accredits them. However, you must be careful of "diploma mills" that are not legitimate because they aren't actually accredited and may lead students on with false claims.

How Does UU直播 Work?

Online college works by delivering coursework and instruction via a secure learning management system (LMS), such as Canvas or Blackboard. Classes are usually asynchronous allowing you scheduling flexibility. You log on through your computer or mobile device when you have time during the week, watch pre-recorded lectures, participate in class posts and discussions, and submit your assignments through the LMS.

Does the Location of My Online School Matter?

Generally speaking, the location of your online school shouldn't matter as long as you receive the education you desire. However, it can prove challenging if you want to take on-campus classes occasionally or need to complete lab assignments or experiential learning. You may also be required to pay costly non-resident tuition rates.

I just started my bachelors degree at St. Andrews (a branch of Webber International University)and I'm so excited! The program is very affordable, and the college has a great reputation. So far the staff has been super friendly and responsive so I've been very impressed. I would absolutely recommend this school to others.

I LOVE Penn State University-World Campus. I have been a student through the online college for a few years now. I have been through several online courses at several different colleges/universities and Penn State's is top-knotch in my opinion.

The work is harder than attending regular classroom courses and there is homework. However, part of the school work experience is that you actually work for school. There are textbooks, and quizzes and assignments, and homeworks that need to be done as it... Read More

Also, on the course information and class materials sheet that they mail and email to the student, they inform the student of required books and underneath it says "recommended" but not required. One doesn't have to purchase them. Based on the fees from other colleges, Penn State's tech. fees and course fees are average if not below average. Any and all maintenance done on the website is updated usually on days that are the slowest and a notice is posted on the website and emails are sent out so the student is always informed.

I've found that the financial aid office goes above and beyond to help a student achieve their goals by actually calling me back one day when I thought all hope was lost of getting aid. They informed me of a number of grants, scholarships and websites I could go to to obtain money for school. I have nothing but the best to say about Penn State World Campus.

My degree program was more on campus than online. I did however take several online courses. My husband is also doing distance learning through NAU which is mostly online.

I feel that they give a quality education and that the professors care about your learning. While some classes were easier than others I felt that the teachers challenged me to learn. The campus is beautiful and the city of Flagstaff is full of wonderful people and lots to do!

Attended: Anthem Institute

I started Anthem Institute right after having a baby. I'm so glad I went back to school for Medical Assisting but if I could go back I would have chosen a different school. Anthem Institute does not certify you you just graduate with a "diploma".

In the time that I was in Anthem Institute I had FOUR different teachers. They would hire somebody and fire them a month later. The other staff was CONSTANTLY changing also. Because of this we didn't get the full education that we shoud have. We were promised... Read More

I graduated with a 4.0 and I worked very hard while I was there. When I took my certification test I studied my notes front to back and the books they gave us. I also googled multiple things on my own and I also reviewed the certification books. I would say only 15 percent of the test were what we went over in class and in our notes. I passed it but because I worked hard to study by myself.

Anthem did not prepare us AT ALL. Other schools prep you for the certification test and offer it. Go to one of these schools. Anthem does not prepare you at all. You are completely on your own to take the certification test and it does cost 100 dollars. (Which wouldn't have been so bad if they prepared us for ANYTHING on it) And as much as they tell you there are jobs open in this career, there isn't. Without your certification you have no chance of finding a job.

They also promised they'd set you up with an interview after you were done with school for the rest of your career. This is a blantant lie. People told me this that had graduated from Anthem and it is true. I've been job hunting on my own (to no luck) but I've been emailing the school for MONTHS and they haven't found me ONE job interview. I'm glad I went to school because I'm hoping something will come up and I'm glad I accomplished something for myself. At the end of the day though I am just stuck with a huge student loan right now and NOTHING to show for it.

Felt kind of pressured into making a commitment. Some of the classes are fun, but others have a ridiculous amount of coursework, far more than should be expected from one class in a part-time program. Something they don't tell you is that the "residencies" you have to participate in are not included in your tuition and you have to pay for transportation and accommodations yourself. Working online is not easy, with the continuous assignments some projects feel overwhelming. The staff is nice but their could be many technical problems that do not benefit the student. The peers that work with you through blackboard are the most helpful as you pull together to study and share. Most of the work seems excessive for school counseling as you share the track with mental health up to a point.

Pros: The faculty are highly experienced and knowledgable, largely practitioners so they know what they're talking about. The curriculum is very focused on practical learning that applies to the field rather than just theory. Cons: The program is a bit too easy, really. Many classes just don't expect that much from you. I would actually prefer something a bit more rigorous sometimes, though I still have learned a lot mostly because of the strength of the faculty.

I'm currently in the online ACNP program, it is definitely an interesting way of learning. It is self-driven education with help from the online instructors. The course work is appropriate, time lines and deadlines are manageable as long as you focus and don't procrastinate. I am one year in and have learned so much. The biggest con for me is the procrastination factor. If I'm not held accountable to being in class on a specific day, I have a hard time focusing, but that's me, not the program.
