SLU offers both online and on-campus programs. In fact, most of its degrees require that students study from the campus in Saint Leo, Florida. Fortunately for distance learners, however, the school features a wide range of fully online degrees that are available to take from every state in the U.S. and over 100 countries around the world.

Determining whether SLU is a legitimate online school mostly comes down to its accreditation status. According to the Database of Accredited Postsecondary Institutions and Programs, Saint Leo University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges () to award associate, baccalaureate, master’s and doctorate degrees, and certificates.

SLU was one of the first colleges to offer courses and degrees to active-duty military members, veterans, and families of servicemembers. Military students are eligible to study on campus, online, or at one of the school's many Education Centers on military bases throughout the country. If students are stationed abroad in a location with no internet service, SLU offers courses through CD-ROM so they can continue their education from anywhere.

Saint Leo is also known for its acceptance and support of international students who are seeking online degrees. SLU's student advisory team exists to assist students from different countries in filling out their paperwork and getting settled into a life of online learning. English assessments are available for international students to determine whether they meet the standards of language proficiency to study at SLU. 

The top earning subject to study at SLU includes information systems. Students can pursue a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems completely online, on campus in Florida, or at one of its many Education Centers on military bases around the country. According to federal data from, SLU's online information systems program can earn students between $56,010 and $59,991 in the first three years after graduation. Additional high earning degrees from SLU include a degree in accounting($51,249), human resources($49,850), and business($49,033). 

In general, schools with high acceptance rates are the easiest to get into. SLU has an acceptance rate of 73%, which is slightly higher than the average for schools around the country. SLU does consider exam scores from the SAT and ACT, but they are not required to apply for a program. The odds of being accepted into SLU may be higher for students that performed well on their college entrance exams.

SLU has rolling admissions, which means students can apply to college at any time throughout the year. Once accepted, there are six specific start times where enrollees are required to begin their studies. 

Follow the steps below to apply for a program at Saint Leo University: 

• Complete and submit and pay the application fee.
• Submit a government-issued ID. This can be either a driver's license, state-issued ID, or passport. 
• Submit a high school diploma, GED, or secondary school transcript.
• Send additional academic transcripts, including a chronological list of any schools previously attended as well as exam scores from Advanced Placement (AP) courses or other college-level courses. 
• Finally, SLU asks to see proof of any professional training a student has completed (such as police training, non-traditional courses, or nursing programs). 
• Mail the above documents directly to the SLU campus in Saint Leo, Florida. Once received, the school will respond with a decision within 30 days.
