ERAU is an online and on-campus school. In fact, 90% of ERAU undergraduate students and 94% of its master鈥檚 students attend online, according to the National Center for Educations Statistics ().

ERAU was founded  and is known for its deep roots in U.S. aviation history. It was one of the first five aviation schools in the country in 1929 and eventually moved its hub to Miami in 1939. 

During WWII, the school became an instrumental training facility for thousands of Army Air Force and Royal Air Force cadets. It also became a seaplane base during the war with an all-female division.
