"Honestly, any newbies should walk in with a working knowledge of FAA rules and a clear understanding of how risk and compliance play out operationally. For example, can they spot a potential violation before it becomes an issue?
... [They] should have at least some experience with aviation operations software, solid communication under pressure, and situational awareness when I am prepping them for their job search. Especially in commercial aviation, the first 30 seconds of your response during a delay, diversion, or IRROPS situation says more than a resume ever will. And in private aviation, where client expectations and demand are higher, being unprepared won’t fly. Pun intended."
Are there concerns or advantages with online training in aviation?
"Yes. Online training only works when it’s backed by exposure. When it’s not, you can spot it immediately. I’ve had hiring leaders tell me they can tell within 90 seconds whether someone’s actually been in the field or just studied it online. It’s the whole being an academic or real world argument. That said, when someone does pair online learning with hands-on experience, they tend to be sharper, and better at adapting to the tech-forward side of aviation.

"Some do. Anyone can regurgitate Part 121 or 135 requirements. I can, and I am not a pilot. What matters is whether you can make decisions from that framework in real time.
If you’re learning FAA regs in isolation, without tying them to operational scenarios, you’re not ready. Like learning a language on your own. It’s not impossible but a lot harder and you won’t be as fluent and sound as legit.
If someone can join in a program that forces them to think through real events like crew timing limits, MEL situations, cross-border compliance… then yes, you’re going to walk in more confident, and more credible. And believe me when I say, in interviews... that matters."

I choose Polk State College because they offered Part 141 Aviation Training and both an Associate of Science Commercial Pilot and a Bachelor of Science Commercial Aviation. The professors have been great to work with. The advisors and Financial aide and cashier departments have been a nightmare. The school advanced my career. I enjoyed the being at the school and learning more than just needed to get my degree. All instructors were very helpful every time I needed help. All the staff were very helpful also. I would love to get my masters but the cost stops me. Other than that I have enjoyed being there.

Military friendly school. Professional experienced in aeronautics staff. Very understanding during deployments and TDYs. Quality of education is comparable with other colleges, it is regionally accredited and offers Bachelor's Degrees with affordable tuition. They also lower tuition to match DoD TA for Military Members.

The course work was challenging, interesting, and incredibly helpful in preparing me to step into the aviation career field. The school is well known and my degree has not gone unnoticed. The instructors were knowledgeable, their aviation/subject-matter experience greatly contributed to a better overall learning experience. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Worldwide (ERAU-WW) campus is an excellent place to get an education in related to the aeronautical industry. The provide classes that are both in classroom or online. This provides student the flexibility to choose courses that meet their needs. Everglades University is an excellent university! President K. M. was an amazing mentor and inspiration, she helped me tremendously. I am so happy with my decision to go to EU. I would highly recommend this school. The staff and faculty were the best!!

I found Everglades University because my co-worker heard that this school takes students who have their A&P. EU gives transfer credit for FAA Airframe & Powerplant Certification. I found the workload and the class schedule is manageable for people who work and go to school. My faculty member Mr. Henry is very personable. He explains the material very well.
