Do not expect to get quality education or professor engagement. Expect to do nothing but write boring forum posts, and papers. The only real requirement for either of these items is that they use academic resource; which in a normal university would be easily available. Not the case with AMU. Their digital library lacks in a lot of ways. Most importantly that you can not find current books on business related topics, such as leadership. As an exercise I tried to find 25 of the top leadership books... Read More

Completely online, which has pros and cons.

There aren't too many cons of the graduate program at APUS. The only two that I can think of are that the name is not widely recognized in the general public yet, and the curriculum is not as intensive as it would be in some of the more recognized graduate programs. The pros are extensive: very affordable, the staff is excellent with communication and flexible with work or military issues, everything is online, the website is easy to navigate and well structured and the workload is manageable for... A pro is that the school has a rolling admissions process unlike a brick and mortar school that only starts each September. Con, sometimes having to wait for a reply on a question because it is online to where a brick and mortar school, your question is directly answered with your instructor in front of you.

American Military University, AMU, is a part of the American Public University System. It is by far the best value in online education, especially considering that they are regionally accredited. Great program for busy professionals.

It's a great school depending on the individual student's needs and stage of professional development. I would personally prefer a brick and mortar. There is no social interaction. Financial Aid does not collaborate well with other academic institutions. Faculty are a little hard to get ahold of. Tuition is tremendous.

Currently I am enrolled in the MBA program at American Public University. Compared to other online universities, the cost of tuition is significantly lower and the education is great. My only con about the program is that so far it seems like every class is done in the same format – main weekly discussion due midweek, assignment and discussion replies due by the end of the week.

This program is ideal for working professionals as it allows you to complete assignments on your time. No need to plan to get to class. A diverse group of students from all over the country leads to interesting forum discussions.

This an online only university. The staff is fantastic, especially in the graduate system. This is my second masters through APUS and the supporting administration have been exceptionally helpful through the entire process. The pros\cons are heavily in the online system and your personal discipline. I enjoyed the freedom to do classes when they I had available time and had no issues with the workload or assignments in genera. I could see how some people might be better suited for a situation that... Read More

The American Public University online MBA program provides a strong academic core. This was my first time taking online classes and I found the professor to be accessible and honest. The class challenged my critical thinking skills and grew my portfolio of written pieces. One of the only disadvantages with the lack of direct interaction with other students. Other than our weekly forum posts, it felt a little isolating.

American Public University System makes it possible for anyone to achieve your dreams! School is not out of reach if you attend here. With easy access to all study material, message boards, and teachers, learning is only a step away! Being an online program you do miss out of group projects and having a group setting of everyone meeting up and brainstorming, but as adults in the workforce that is hard to achieve anyway. I would love to see video lectures from teachers instead of just message boards.... Read More

The pros were definitely the ease with which one could log on and off at any time of the day and complete graduate level assignments around the clock in order to fit their lifestyle. This facilitated the achievement of much greater workloads while working full time. The support is amazing, with professors who have educations from prestigious institutions and have real world experience which they can pass on to you. The career and student support is unprecedented in that there were many helpful individuals... Read More

I felt that the program overall was good, but I didn't feel a great sense of accomplishment when I completed my program. I didn't feel like I had worked towards a masters degree and hadn't done enough work to earn it. However, I did learn a lot from the classes and have already started applying the materials to my job.

UUÖ±²¥ education allows me to work on my MPA while still working a more than full-time schedule, taking care of my family and community. Technology hiccups sometimes are frustrating in the school's library, though.

American Public University System is a great university for an on-line education. You attend classes when they fit in your schedule. The instructors and students are from all over the world and are willing to help answer questions and listen when you ask. The only con I have found is that there is no face to face interaction with your peers or the instructors.
