The program I took at Arizona State University ((ASU), focused on Behavioral Health delivery. At the time, it was the only program in the country that offered its unique training, and remains one of the very few. What makes this program so unique is that it offers training that is on the cutting edge of healthcare, allowing graduates to be at the forefront of health care service delivery.

After just completing my first year at ASU in the clinical psychology program, I can say I'm in love. I have received a lot of support from my mentor as well as the rest of clinical faculty and those from other areas. Whether it is a question about class concepts, an issue with clinical work, or a problem I'm mulling over in my own research, I feel comfortable approaching any faculty member at ASU for help and guidance. Read More we host a camping trip for all years to meet and mingle with the new cohort- and to escape the summer heat! Every semester we host social events for everyone in the department to get together and know each other in a more casual setting as well as host semesterly research symposiums to learn about the research projects our peers and faculty are undertaking. I also feel empowered to speak about the issues that face our department or my cohort. Though I feel supported, the career focus is primarily on clinical research and not much exploration as to more creative uses of our PhD. The Phoenix area can be pricey and in some areas does lack a sufficient transportation system, but overall, ASU is located in the collegiate town of Tempe with a new lightrail that goes straight downtown and some reasonable housing options. Phoenix as a major metropolitan city is extremely diverse, but the most recent cohort of ASU clinical students does not represent this. Nevertheless, I have really loved my experience and feel this is the best fit for me.
