I am a student in the Master's in Biomimicry at ASU with expected graduation end of 2017. I participated in this program exclusively on l line. The classes are very well organized, it is easy to navigate on Black Board (our in line interface) and connect with the other students and instructors in the program. The classes are challenging and rewarding. Biomimicry is a new discipline and ASU offers the only Master's level education in this new discipline. I would chose ASU again as it has been such... Read More a great experience. I have just started to explore the career service - as a student of line it is exciting to explore how this might work. The job market is active in the US and my hope is that my knowledge in Biomimicry might generate interesting conversations. I wish you all success in your endeavors.

Originally I was very intimidated about the idea of doing an online masters program while working full time. Online classes were new to me completely so I was very unsure how much access I would have to my teachers and other students in the program. I was very surprised to see the effort that ASU goes through in order to try and encourage interaction between student and instructor as well as between students in the program. There was a huge emphasis put on contacting the teachers or TA's for questions... Read More and well as using class discussion boards to ask questions to other students. It was extremely helpful to be given so much access and so many options to communicate. I also liked how accessible the class lectures and information is to the students. I was able to download lectures and listen to them in the car and the gym and many other places. This was a huge thing for me because I am working full time. So trying to do school and work while trying to maintain a normal life is very tough. Allowing me to listen to lectures anywhere allowed me a lot of freedom to keep doing the things I loved. I have been nothing but satisfied so far. My instructors are extremely accessible and if i ever write them with questions or concerns I usually have a response with in a hour or two. Overall it has been great and I'm looking for ward to finishing the program in the summer

The benefits conferred to me while completing my M.S. in Biology are the prestige of School of Life Sciences at ASU (ranked 13th in the nation) and the quality of resources I have access to at my lab in the Biodesign Institute. Arizona State University is a veritable community of its own and with this comes ever more resources (multiple libraries, eateries, health services, etc.). The downfall to my graduate program is the reduced funding offered to masters students as, according to numerous professors... Read More and scholastic professionals, these programs in the life sciences are a waning breed, even though these same academic leads agree with the value of a masters degree.
