This is a higher education "turn'em and burn'em" scheme. They churn out graduates offering substandard, inconsistent, and, at times, incomprehensible education. The course and loan structure is somewhere between financial entrapment and a bait-and-switch. The whole program is horribly misleading. They talk a good game but fail to deliver. What is the recourse for students with credentialing organizations and lending institutions that endorse and facilitate them to lure students in and fail to deliver on high-cost, and presumably higher education? ASU Online is a profit machine exploiting students and the COVID virus.

ASUs Online Masters program has been quite a blessing for me. The online program can be completed entirely online, which is enormously valuable to people living abroad for whom even a few weeks a year required on campus might be impossible to complete. Though I cannot quite honestly say this of all my professors at ASU, I can say it about most: They are more thorough, involved, and helpful than I ever could have thought possible through the platform of online courses. They manage to get to know and to reach their students through email communication, through careful, timely, and meaningful feedback, Skype conferences, video responses and many other technological tools that rather than simply complicating processes actually enhance learning from a distance. The program, for the most part, is rigorous, challenging, and valuable both academically and professionally.

I am an online student at Arizona State University, earning a Master's degree in English studies. Their Master's of English program is the only program currently offered by a state school, as opposed to a private or for profit school. In conducting my research, the price per unit is the lowest of any online program currently available. It is one thing to pursue a degree at a physical campus, however to complete a degree online is a whole different entity. ASU not only allowed me to be proactive with my studies, but it still offered a class -like setting for online students like myself. ASU's Department of English offers interesting, vigorous graduate classes from well-qualified, highly knowledgeable professors. The professors, staff, and other students offer a supportive community. The department is also increasing efforts and resources for giving graduate students their best chance on the job market. Most doctoral graduate students receive TAships and stipends, but the financial compensation isn't really enough to live on. There are not funding opportunities for masters students.... Read More
