The Arizona State University is a remarkable university that offers a great number of Doctoral, Graduate and undergraduate degrees in many different fields. As a working professional, I was thrilled to see ASU offer the MA in Sociology in an online format. Attending class several nights a week is not an option for me. However, I often wonder if the online format is more challenging than on-ground. In order to graduate in 15 months, students must attend sessions in Fall, Spring, and Summer, with Summer classes being as short as six weeks. The coursework is rapid-fire and intense. I have found the professors extremely accessible and willing to help over email and via phone conferences. Class structure is very clear and syllabi leave nothing to question. ASU offers a Graduate Writing Center, where you can get specialized assistance and review of your papers, as well as regular tutoring for courses like Statistics (mandatory for this program). The library resources are comprehensive, IT fantastic, and both are available nearly 24/7. I've never had an IT issue that wasn't resolved within a half hour of me contacting them. That includes wait time and troubleshooting. ASU offers you a success coach as well, who checks in with you as you progress through the program, ensuring you have guidance and support as you need it. They offer phone conferences as well, if you desire -- but also leave you to your studies if you don't want to engage with them. I'm very impressed with the structure and support of the online MA Sociology program at ASU.
