I opted for an online grad program for the flexibility as most do. My husband works in hospitality and we move around for his job frequently. I throughly enjoyed my online courses. I learned masters level social work skills from all my professors and even with their online restrictions, the courses were very engaging as well as educational. However, I would NOT recommend this online program to individuals who move frequently. The advising office does not have your best interest. I will say that they... Read More

I started my MSW journey in a traditional evening class setting, however after I received a fulltime job offer, this was no longer an option. After taking a semester off and doing research on graduate programs I applied to ASUs online MSW program. I think this was one of my best academic choices I have ever made. ASUs online MSW program has allowed me to obtain a high-quality education while working in my field full time. Each week students are required to complete readings and assignments but are... I transferred to Arizona State after a family emergency left me relocating from Florida to North Carolina, where my former MSW program would not accept my NC residency for the program. ASU's MSW was willing to consider accepting more graduate transfer credits than most (30 hours) and that highly influenced my decision. The program academics have been thorough and rigorous so far, however they ended up only accepting 21 of my 34 transfer credits which really set me back. Also, though they have a large... Read More

ASU is a school I have been a part of since I was an undergraduate student. Continuing to do my masters program, I chose to stay with ASU because of the top ranking it has for graduate programs and the school of social work. I am very happy with my decision, and would advise anyone to build their own tenure as a student with ASU, because there are many opportunities and research to be established with if you do!

Enrolling in Arizona State University's online program for my Masters in Social Work has allowed me to continue my education while remaining in the workforce full-time and also being a single parent. The classes are 100% online with the exception of field placement which means I have the flexibility to fit my schoolwork into my already busy schedule. My interactions with peers and instructors through Blackboard has been positive and enriching. I look forward to finishing my degree with ASU and entering... Read More

I originally chose the online MSW program at Arizona State because I needed an online program, and wanted to ensure my degree was from a legitimate university. Additionally, I was impressed by the fees in comparison to other universities that I located with online programs. Unfortunately, immediately after starting classes I found out that the per unit costs and other tuition fees were increasing significantly, and I now question if I would have still chosen ASU if I had been made aware of the new... I've worked in higher education so I feel like I am more aware of the 'inner workings' of schools than most people. I also attended a private for-profit college as well as ASU. The biggest difference I found when attending at ASU, resulted in me feeling more motivated, educated and applicable to my new found career. I felt the teachers were very detailed, had good boundaries and were able to address situations in a timely manner.

Arizona State University has been very supportive towards my goal of becoming a Licensed Social Worker. You are assigned a success coach who works with you to achieve your goal. This was completely different from the online program I transferred from at Walden University. The classes are short (7.5 weeks), which pushes you to be a better graduate student. Thus far I can say that the support team, teachers and overall online experience has been a great one. I am very happy that I chose to transfer... Read More

DO NOT do the MSW program at ASU. They are basically just selling you a degree. They have nearly a 2 hour wait between classes so you are forced to hand out there if you live off campus, and they have very little concern about working students. To fill in class time they have the worst lectures which are repeats of the same people from the BSW class. Finally, I was very dissatisfied with my internships as well. All in all, a very bad experience. Go elsewhere!

The School of Social Work has its strong points and areas that could use improvement. The school has great ties to the Tucson community and a wide variety of internship possibilities. This has been the best and most helpful part of my education. There are also night classes available for students who are working or have other responsibilities during the day. The classes and instructors have been hit or miss. Some classes have felt like a complete waste of time and money and the only reason students... Read More
