The History department at California State University Fullerton is an incredibly tight-knit and compassionate department filled with the most brilliant professors and passionate students, there is absolutely nowhere else I would study history. The only cons I could find are a lack of computer availability on campus and the difficulty with campus parking. I have no complaints about the department or graduate program thus far.

It is the largest school (enrollee-wise) in the Cal State system, and seems to have the most diversity, both in student population and course and major availability. The history program is fabulous, with a variety of majors and minors, as well as the Theta Pi chapter of the history honors society Phi Alpha Theta and award-winning publication the Welebethan. The faculty is still consulting, researching and writing in their specific fields, and one is even a national officer in Phi Alpha Theta. It... Read More

Its a tough program and worth the effort to get the graduate classes I need. Sometimes the professors are a little overwhelmed so getting in to meet with them is hard to do.

The professors are top notch and the program is perfect for those going back to Grad school and work at the same time. The majority of their graduate classes are held at a time that someone working during the day can attend.

The best aspect I enjoyed about my graduate program was building relationships with faculty and their willingness to assist students. I loved the fact the program is not very large classes are not impacted. The least favorite thing I liked about my program and it goes for many programs is that their are not many scholarships available and their is not financial aid offered. That is why I hope I can receive some assistance to help pay for graduate school.

The history program provides a Oral and Public History Track where one can specifically study Public History and prepare themselves to become public historians. To earn this degree, one must complete an internship in the field. However, if one does follow this option, they do not complete a thesis, which may be beneficial later on in one's career as well.

Public and Oral History degree is invaluable. The faculty are very supportive. However, one must take more than the normal graduate student workload to be considered a full-time student. One must take nine units to be a full-time graduate student.

The program is good, it is difficult to get a graduate committee as faculty are often busy or un-available.
