Degree: MBA in Management

I started in the Spring of 2021 and so far its been challenging at best. The curriculum is not theory or written based. It consist of a lot of proctored exams that students pay for that cost (approx $18.00) and if you have more than one course then you do the math. Being someone that has some academic experience I was not aware that the ECU MBA is a follow - up to their undergrad courses. The professor's have been there for quite a while and have not changed the material for several semesters so... Read More

Degree: Sociology

I transferred to ECU after my sophomore year at Presbyterian College in Clinton, NC. I transferred because the college felt too small and they didn't have many professors teaching in the department that I was interested in. The dean of the Sociology department and the professors in it were great! This major prepared me well for my calling as a pastor in ways I didn't anticipate. I continued my interest in History from what I had learned earlier at PC. This interest continued to grow in seminary as... Read More

East Carolina is a great school but has it flaws for sure. The safety on campus is a big problem. They say they have improved it but it has not gotten any better. That is also the city it is in. Greenville is very unsafe. I am a senior now and I have to say that most academics and departments are very good. Instructors are there when needed and they give you many resources to do well. Except for the accounting department. I had to take 2 accounting classes and both were terrible. I struggled with... Read More

Degree: English

The Bachelor's of Science Degree program for English at East Carolina University was an exceptional program when I attended. It was specifically designed and intended for those planning to teach. It therefore included courses in the psychology of teaching, and in developmental approaches to supporting students as writers, readers, and critical thinkers. Looking back, I have but one regret which was more a function of my choices than of the program: I wish I had taken more coursework in the teaching... Read More

The Bachelor of Science (BSN) Nursing program at East Carolina University greatly prepared me to become a Registered Nurse (RN). Not only did I learn medical knowledge, but I was prepared to act in a leadership role, which is also an important part of being an RN. I absolutely do not regret getting a BA in Psychology from East Carolina University but students who wish to pursue a similar degree need to make sure that they understand that going to graduate school afterwards is not optional if you want a good job in that career field. A BA in Psychology will almost get you nowhere except into graduate school but if you are determined and okay with going back to school, the earning potential is worth it.

The MSW New Bern Cohort has been an excellent experience and educational opportunity for me. I was able to work full time which is needed for my family to survive and obtain my graduate degree from a great university through a part-time Saturday program. This is the only opportunity I had to attend an accredited university and get a quality education all while living in a town that doesn't even have a university.
