I am very upset with the added cost and fees of the schooling. Just paid almost 300$ on top of regular tuition(1500$) for a technology and admin fee for 6 credits. Also, there are last minute class cancellations which if using military TA will screw you out of classes.

Beware of LPN to RN program if out of state!! I was a FT LPN in NY. Moved to PA after graduating LPN to RN Oct. 24’ as I’m getting married so stopped working to study. Could not take NCLEX in PA as there is a pending review between Excelsior & PA State Board of Nursing for last 4 months. Took NCLEX n NY & passed Dec. 2024. PA will not honor my RN license transfer perm or temp while review is ongoing. Both Excelsior & PA BON will not provide timelines for resolve. Many of my graduated classmates can’t... Read More

PA STUDENTS!!! please check with the PA State Board of Nursing BEFORE taking nursing classes through Excelsior! I graduated 10/18/24. ALL of the students from PA and not approved to sit for our NCLEX! Excelsior is not providing the correct information to the board for us to be approved. There are more graduates after us being affected also.

My professors have been amazing, with the exception of one who got my advisor to try to talk me into withdrawing after my son was in ICU. I asked for a couple of one—to two-day extensions because I was dealing with trauma, and assignments were due the day my son came home. After I requested a new advisor, I was assigned one without a response to my email and the new advisor does not bother replying to my emails. The others have been encouraging, patient, and helpful. I love the curriculum, which... Read More

Happy to remove this if my issue is resolved.
Current student in the Nuclear Engineering Technology program.
The biggest issue I am experiencing right now is the AI witch hunt come finals time. I was given a 0 for my final paper because some faulty software, known for having unreliable detection flagged my paper as AI generated. This resulted in a full two-letter drop in my grade which is completely unacceptable. I made a complaint and was told to rewrite my paper.
Students are given very little recourse... Read More

Don't believe all the bad reviews out there!! I completed the LPN to RN program in 20 months and everything went smoothly. I honestly feel like the people who give this program bad reviews are just simply bad at following directions and are sore that they couldn't. I did this while working as a full-time LPN and raising 3 children. You can do it! Stay motivated and it will pay off!! Good luck!!

It is all up to the person looking in the mirror, every college has their challenges . Hard work is easy, I went from Paramedic to RN . was not easy but there was no reason to fail. What helped me was knowing two of my co workers had became RN's through this program.

The good: Excelsior College accepts more transfer credits that almost any other school. They accept over 100 credits of transfer, so you can get a degree with <15 credits from them. That's unheard of. The bad: Their financial aid office is worthless. They promise you huge aid packages, just to cancel it after the disbursement date/final drop deadline passes. Then you're stuck footing the bill for a lot of the money yourself. And no, my external aid sources (fed gov't/Pell) cannot be blamed. Excelsior... Read More

The grading system is the worst I've ever seen in any college setting. The CPNE was thrown out, so the school have to make up for it some how. You will do hours upon hours of Prep-U quizzes which leaves little time for studying for exams. The 30+ quizzes you have to take is worth 1% of your grade, test are 30-50%, quizzes are 30%. That's just about an automatic fail if you fail a test. Books are over $2000 dollars and they expire.

We sometimes forget the circles we run in when we write on social media. It wasn't very comforting to see people interpreting what others have stated about getting their degrees quickly. Many of these professionals come from the U.S. military, which trains every individual to the degree of their capability to work professionally in high-demand technical career fields. The history of Regents, Excelsior College, and Excelsior University is very steep in rigorously vetting official educational records... Read More

It is what it is. I started at Excelsior to become a Nurse. College misinformation and errors on my part meant I ran out of time. Not entirely Excelsior's fault. Excelsior does a great job when you are salvaging your abandon credits from other traditional colleges into something. Some classes I was able to use were almost thirty years old. (Obviously science and technical courses, not so much.) Some online courses with over 5-year-old textbooks that you can buy on EBAY for 5 bucks makes the course... Read More

I graduated from Excelsior College years ago with an associated science in nursing. Yes, it required lots of studying time. One of the reasons many LPN doesn't do good because they fail to think on rn level, they want to continue lpn mentality. Yes at first it was difficult for me, I soon realized I had to move out of the practical nurse mode to thinking as registered nurse. I will always remember this school because it was where I started in the 90s. It open many doors for me. However, I pursued... Read More

I see a lot of negative reviews on this school for the nursing program, but I on the other hand loved it. Because I travel a lot, it was great to be able to access my classes on my own time from my own computer. The key to this school (especially the nursing curriculum) is to definitely learn how to take the initiative to study and learn the lessons on your own. This is not to say you are literally on your own, as the classes provide you with all needed materials and information, you just have to... Read More

Incompetent college. I've attended a variety of top tier, private, public, and other types of colleges over the years, but Excelsior has been the worst. Professors claim to use some arbitrary rubric, but grading is all over the map. Assignments are a complete waste of time. Though unqualified, professors are often arrogant. The capstone and cornerstone courses are pointless busy work, at best. Financial aid is a joke. They claim you'll get all sorts of aid, but undo that aid halfway through the semester,... Read More

I did the LPN to RN program and went back to do MSN program. It was not easy but doable. It's designed to be tough and makes you think. The reviews on CPNE are correct- I actually failed the frist time but passed the second. Looking back, I think it's because I thought I knew everything- obviously I didn't. You have to have a pretty tough outer shell to do it. I've been in my dream job for a long time now. Go for it!

Overall I have had wonderful experience with Excelsior. I have been enrolled for a few years and it has been very flexible with my military career. Others have stated that they have had issues with Military TA but I have not had any issues personally. Additionally, instructors and advisors have always been easy for me to get in contact with. I did notice in this last class that the instructor seemed like a robot because he would respond to discussion questions with unrelated topics that didn't apply.... Read More

The "teachers" at Excelsior "College" (and now they're calling themselves "University") are sometimes bots and people in the administration office cutting and pasting "feedback". I guess a lot of Excelsior students get their degrees paid for by someone else, so they don't care how low the quality of the "education" they're getting is but if you want to actually have an intelligent conversation with anyone, look elsewhere. You might have to do what I did and enroll at a brick and mortar campus with... Read More

Excelsior allowed me the opportunity to bridge from Paramedic to RN and move forward with my career as at the time I was a single mother with 2 children working full time as a Paramedic.
