I enjoyed my years at FAU. I love that they offer day and night classes and that they have several campuses that you can attend in Broward and Palm Beach County. They also offer online courses which helped me a lot because I work full-time. FAU has many clubs, athletic events, and school spirit. They are always very professional and were very helpful anytime I needed assistance. They always made sure to communicate with students and make sure we were always informed with what was going on with our grades, deadlines, incidents, accounts, etc. I would recommend FAU to anyone who has a busy life but still wants to experience what attending a real University is like.

The Social Work program at Florida Atlantic University was beyond what I expected it to be. I was and continue to be extremely impressed by the faculty in the School of Social Work at FAU. One thing I really appreciated about the program was the level of competence most of the School of Social Work professors had. Many of them were adjunct, so they also had full-time jobs in the field. The most I got out of my courses came from the real-world experiences that were described to us by our professors.... Read More The instructors always answer emails promptly and most provide their cell phone numbers in a case that texting them would be appropriate. The staff usually introduce themselves and prefer to be addressed by their first names. I feel as if my teachers at FAU were able to successfully join with and give specialized attention to any student that desired that. My favorite aspect of the Social Work program was the Field Placement. Our last semester consisted of a Field Seminar class once every other week and 400 hours interning at the agency we were placed in. I learned much more than I imagined I would. There are a variety of great options as far as agencies a BSW student at FAU may be placed in. Also, if you are interested in interning in an agency that the school does not have a current contract with, you can contact the field faculty at the school and they may attempt to establish an agreement with said agency, making placement there a possibility.

I absolutely love my experience during my BSW! I can honestly say that every professor that I encountered was truly knowledgable, understanding, and really wanted their students to succeed. Sometimes, people think of having a successful college experience includes getting by with "nicest professors", and "easiest classes". However, although those are always in the students mind during the time they are competing a degree, it is NOT most important. You will really appreciate when you leave your BSW... Florida Atlantic University's Bachelor's of Social Work program is excellent; I learned so much and gained a ton of experience. The teachers are there to assist you and they genuinely care about wanting you to succeed. Their passion for their craft and their profession really shows through their teaching. I graduated with months of experience at an agency and also a certificate in Child Welfare. I enjoyed the school so much that I decided to go back for my Masters Degree. I am currently in the MSW program at FAU, which I must say we are ranked number 2 in the country. Studying at FAU has been a pleasure and I cannot think of a better place to assist me with furthering my education.

I graduated from Florida Atlantic University in December 2016 with a Bachelor of Social Work. I started FAU's Advanced Standing MSW program in May. I believe FAU's BSW program prepared me for generalist practice in the world of Social Work. Since I would like to work as a substance abuse counselor, I am now pursuing a Master's degree. There will always be a few who don't want to do the work and complain about everything, but if you work hard and genuinely want to learn, you will have a great experience. I believe the curriculum will give students what they need for generalist practice. I would highly recommend FAU to anyone who wants to become a social worker. One of my former professors is now leading the school of social work. She has a tremendous amount of energy and is working hard to push the program to the next level, not to mention the school was recently named the Phyllis and Harvey Sandler School of Social Work after receiving a generous donation of $7 million dollars. Besides having excellent professors, my advisors were also very helpful in making sure I was taking the right courses to graduate on time. The field placement my last semester was challenging and gave me valuable hands-on case management experience. Every effort is made to find students field placements that are a good fit. Since FAU is a state school, tuition is reasonable and won't set you back like a private school, plus I believe you will get a better education at FAU.

Florida Atlantic University is a university with several campus's which try to serve over 30,000 students each year. Explaining how and what to expect and the costs of education were not done very well however, once a student they did accommodate distance students on a satellite campus s to reduce travel. They see the need for clinical social workers and have created curriculum that provides education and internship support.
