FAU is an excellent school for the purpose of gaining knowledge, but in choosing a school like with many other things in life you may want to keep in mind your reason for attending. Florida Atlantic University's (FAU) Biomedical Science program fosters great opportunities for critical learning and many ways to utilize classroom based knowledge in a more hands on capacity through the variety of research and Directed Independent Study (DIS) opportunities offered by the program. The amount of scientific/medical knowledge and experience that is available through the plethora of different laboratories and research projects being conducted makes FAU a very competitive institution... The most intriguing aspect of the Biomedical Masters program here at FAU is the small class sizes comprised of a low student to teacher ratio which aids tremendously in students receiving individualized instruction and tutelage from PhD level professors. This stimulates excellent rapport between students and faculty which affords students the valuable ability of administration actually knowing students and the way in which they learn. The best way to summarize the FAU department of Biomedical Sciences is to say that it is big enough to provide students many resources, yet small enough for each student to take hold of these resources and opportunities and actually utilize them without being excluded.

This is an excellent choice whether you choose to advance to medical school or are interested in research in the Biomedical field.Courses are taught by leading research scientists as well as members of the medical faculty. FAU is also a test site in that you can schedule your GRE, LSAT ,GMAT or MCAT exams at the on campus facility. There are courses that will introduce you to the rigors of professional school should that be you intended path. There is also the possibility of having your tuition taken... Read More care of should you receive a teaching assistant position in either the Biology or Chemistry department .There is also a downside with this since most biology and Chemistry major tend be offered the positions first. however the fall and spring semesters offer very good opportunity to placement in these positions.

The program is a great way to improve your resume for health professional schools such as medical school or dental programs. Also, the teachers and faculty are very accessable and timely in their responses which I found to be very helpful. The TA internships for this program are very limited, however you can be put on the list for left over TA positions in the Biology and Chemistry department. Searching for scholarships is difficult however worth while. So far I am enjoying this program thoroughly.... Read More The parking on campus is horrendous however, and it doesn't look to be improving much. I would look to live on campus if I wasnt getting married and ditch the car all together. This is definitely not a college town, however I love how close you are to the beach, about 5 minutes!
