I chose this school based on convenience, programs available, and cost. I was able to get my PhD paid for, it was a short commute, and had a specialty I was interested in.

Florida International is smaller in size and popularity than most of the 4 year universities in the state, yet they offer a wide variety of majors and professions and have become more competitive with many of the neighboring schools.

I feel blessed to have earned both merit and financial need based scholarships to attend Florida International University. As I continue to pursue a specialized graduate degree, I appreciate any opportunity to receive necessary funding. The pros of my masters in public healthcare policy are the quality of education and networking events available to educate the student body. While public health faculty members are both helpful and knowledgable, there is a lack of diversity in terms of research areas. Funding is also lacking for Masters students.

FIU's grad school allowed me to complete a masters degree while working full time. The professors are excellent. Students who are unable to be on campus every day are disconnected from the smaller groups pursuing graduate degrees. More funding options should be available for students paying out of pocket.
