I am currently enrolled in the George Mason online cohort to receive my Master's in Administration. I am enjoying my classes and like that my peers come from different areas of America and some are evening taking online courses abroad. I am pleased with the rigor of my courses and how much I am learning about being a positive educational leader.

My academic advisor was clear with me from the beginning about what my courseload would look like as well as the necessary requirements to achieving my goals. I've had nothing but good experiences here. My professors are knowledgeable and available. Mason's LIFE Program is also an incredible asset to the university. It provides graduate students with the opportunity to work with students with disabilities, gaining valuable experience and teaching skills.

As single who works a full time teaching job as well as a part time job in the afternoon, I find the work load of this program manageable. I have never been the most organized person or the greatest student (I did my undergraduate degree at the same university) I currently have a 3.89 GPA at the midway point of my M.A. That doesn't mean the classes are easy, just that the professors are clear on information and expectations. The parking situation on campus is dire, but I find that to be the most... Read More

I learned a lot from my professors and enjoyed many of them. I felt the level of support given from advisers was not very great. Most of the time I was finding out things on my own and after the fact. I was not informed of an alternate route for licensure that was applicable for me and my adviser was aware. This could have dramatically affected my graduation had I not found out from another student I am still very upset about that. Other than the poor advisement I have enjoyed my graduate program... I have appreciated my journey with George mason while earning my masters Degree. Access to the counselor has been challenging. Entrance to the program was difficult in which I almost turned to another school. Parking is terrible, especially when you already pay high fees for classes, parking for the class should be included.

Overall, George Mason University, offers a very competitive and enriching graduate program within the field of Special Education. Professors are encouraging, helpful, and available in and out of the classroom. My only complaint would be the lack of availability to scholarships and grants at the graduate level.

I absolutely love my graduate program! It is very demanding and the internships are hard work, but overall I am getting a quality education and will graduate with my masters degree and my teaching license. Doesn't get much better than that!

I am currently getting my Masters in Special Education with a graduate certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis. All the Professors in this program are amazing and their classes have been intellectually stimulating. The professors are always an email or call away and prompty respond to students needs. I am proud to go to George Mason Universtiy as they have given me an opportunity to grow and excel.

Pros: Teaching professors who are incredibly passionate about their profession, multiple opportunities to collaborate with peers, amazing Adaptive Technology Lab and class, many future job leads, and extremely affordable tuition for in-state residents. Mason's Special Education program is truly a hidden gem on campus! I already have a graduate degree from a "top tier" school (that was much more expensive) and Mason has definitely proven to be an excellent value proposition in my professional life.... Read More

It is great with flexibility. You can use the special education program to either to into the general class curriculum special education teacher licensure or the inclusive. Also there's another path to become licensed in ABA therapy.

The Graduate program allows me to work in the school system while going to grad school. I am able to use field experience in my grad class from my classroom that I work in. The professors are very supportive and helpful.

George Mason has been a great University thus far. The staff and advisors are helpful and go above and beyond to make sure you succeed. Class sizes are small and personalized. The work load is fair and well planned. George Mason is located outside of D.C., it would be nice if there was a metro stop at the University.

I am so very lucky to be a part of George Mason University's Special Education Graduate Program. Built into the masters is your certification to teach in Virginia. One of the best things about it is that every teacher I have had so far has also been a K-12 special education teacher in one of Virginia's wonderful school counties so we wind up having a lot of connections to multiple schools and districts. All of the classes align perfectly with what we need to know for our work in the field. It even... Read More
