My experience at NKU was good in terms of getting what I expected out of the institution. The education I received was as good as I expected going into my program, and I honestly felt like I had a more personal experience here than I would at a larger university. While being smaller may have some drawbacks for some, I appreciated that aspect of my education. It allowed me to feel more personally connected to my professors as well as my fellow students. Overall, I would recommend NKU to students looking... Read More

I pray everyone looks for reviews first. I wish I had! NKU does not tell students of all the fees and extras that are required to be purchased. I wanted to transfer schools a yr in and no one will take NKU credits. The NKU site says $29,000 for the program, wrong! They will up your tuition every chance they get, clinical labs fees went from $250 to now $1000 each, that is a 150% increase. Programs required to purchase: shadow health $238.18/yr, osmosis $85.00/yr, stat pearls 69.99/yr, ihuman $102.75/per... Read More

I would not recommend this program. It is full of busy work without any meaningful instruction- at all. It was least expensive I found but there's an adage that goes along with that. I graduated. Were it not for what I learned during my clinical rotations I would not be prepared at all.

If I had to redo my Graduate degree in nursing, I would look elsewhere. NKU allows instructors to poorly led their students on obtaining information. The program at NKU is self-taught, and getting assistance from teachers is nearly impossible. If the courses available online at NKU included instructor-led teachings through notes and videos, that would enhance students learning potential. The program is just a lengthy google search to answer questions provided by instructors who reask the same questions... Read More

Northern Kentucky University is a hidden gem. I chose NKU because financially I needed to stay in state for my education and it was unlike any other school in the state. The location is a large benefit, students are about 7 minutes from downtown Cincinnati. There is always something do and to get involved in. The faculty at NKU are the most genuine, caring, and truly loving individuals I have met. Students are encouraged to do what they are passionate about, they are never swayed down the wrong path... Chose this due to the "scholarship" award, was told several of MSN courses I had already would transfer in 8/18 but was not given the final decision until 1/26/2019 after already retaking several courses I already had, this was disheartening to say the least. The course work I had before was 10yrs old but was WORTH the time I spent, this program is 100% teaching yourself, ok, may 90% but most courses was 100% self-taught. I am now in a specialty tract with the same results. There are NO online or... Read More

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Northern Kentucky University when I attended for my Bachelor's degree. It is the perfect university for those who want a small town college, but close to Downtown Cincinnati at the same time. NKU offers plenty of performances in their BB&T Arena; have a superb basketball team; their theatre department can rival others in the area. I'm looking forward to heading back this fall for my graduate degree!

The faculty and course content was appropriate. My problem was the system called Canvass. I reviewed the online Canvass tutorial but it was not helpful when it came to staying organized with the live program. Too much content was printed, the canvass view was cluttered and confusing to use. I am a hands on person and a little older than my cohorts and the online review was not helpful. Contacts to the IT department were not helpful either. Maybe more input from older students returning for their... Read More

As far as quality of curriculum is concerned, the Northern Kentucky University Theatre Department is pretty darn good. It's often considered the most advanced university theatre program in the state of Kentucky. Western Kentucky University comes in at a close second (at least this was the case when I was still attending NKU between 2013 and 2017). With all of that being said, it is a tough program to endure if you are a minority student. I was the only black female playwriting student in the program... Read More

My program was industrial/organizational psychology which is very business related (HR). The key improvement would be to require an internship or help more to get practical experience. All jobs typically list 3-5 years of experience as a requirement.

The school itself is decent. The campus is a good size and has had several updates since I have graduated. The classes were good, decent in size, nice knowledgeable professors. School is lacking in networking opportunities and advising both academic and career.

This program is the most unorganized, confusing and mediocre program I have ever attended. Instructors expect Graduate level work but only put out elementary level instruction and materials. Rife with misspellings and poorly developed classes. Powerpoints look like they were assembled by a fifth grader, the instructors claim to want to help you succeed but are incapable of putting together an intelligible assignment. The NKU MBA program was a wonderful opportunity to explore all aspects of business. The class sizes are small enough that you get to know your professors and peers on a deeper level, creating relationships that last past graduation.
