I recently completely my Master of Public health degree at Nova. Overall, I have been happy while pursuing my online degree here. The professors I had were very knowledgeable and seemed excited to teach their courses. My program was organized and my professors were always easy to contact and quick to respond. I liked that my class sizes were small (about 10-20 students), it made the classes seem more intimate. One thing that annoyed me during this process was needing a letter of recommendation from... Read More a professor. I asked a professor from my most recent semester for a letter for a fellowship , he also happened to be the program director. He told me no and that he did not know me well enough. This was an unfortunate situation because I had done well in the class and I was active in discussion during the course. I figured this was the problem with pursuing online degrees, you may not develop the same relationship with the professor that you would if you had classes on campus. So that was upsetting, but I found a way around it. I do plan on pursuing another degree here soon.

Nova Southeastern University has been a wonderful graduate program so far. The website is extremely easy to navigate and provides all of the information that I have looked for. My program is completely online, so all of my classes have been through Blackboard. I used Blackboard in my undergraduate degree as well, and have been thoroughly impressed with its ease of use both times. For my Masters of Health Science I have had to have academic advising before every time we register for classes, which... Read More is extremely helpful in learning what to expect from each class. It is also wonderful to be able to speak with the dean of the college so frequently, it gives the program a very personal feel. To this point the course load has been acceptable, and the price of books/etc. is very manageable. My only complaint would be that some of their informational pieces are not up to date, although I have been told that they are in the process of doing this. Overall I am extremely satisfied with my experience and would recommend my program to anyone that was interested in obtaining a Masters of Health Science.

This program is particular is very small and its fairly easy to get to know your teachers and the program director on a personal level. The coursework was fair and I was satisfied with the curriculum. With all that being said, their online program is pretty inflexible. They only have about 10- 15 courses each semester and they are start at 6 pm on week nights (with the exception of the same 3 classes every semester that start a bit later). This means that you need to be logged in on a computer at... Read More that time several times a week. For the average working professional this schedule doesn't work very well. However, they don't care and they don't try to work with you. Unfortunately, they don't share any of this with you during orientation. If you're okay with this style of learning then it is a cool program however if you're looking for a truly online/independent feel, this program isn't it.
