Unemployable 55 year old, Seeks a New Beginning. Read More neighbors and other parents when they spoke about education and their experiences. Yes, I was ashamed - not to mention, I had "imposter's syndrome". According to Wikipedia, imposter's syndrome is a psychological experience of intellectual and professional in-fraudulence. It is the subjective experience of perceived self-doubt in one's abilities and accomplishments compared with others, despite evidence to suggest the contrary. I reached out to the university I attended in the 90's. I started off the conversation with, "I have a very special circumstance." and their reply started with, "well, you're not that special." Fast forward, I read the reviews for Purdue Global and picked up the phone. Boy, was I lucky to Lawrence Dale on the other line. Lawrence was patient, he listened, followed up, called, texted, emailed; not in a sales type of follow up, but in a caring, respectful way. We discussed how I could make it work; efficiently and at an accelerated, yet doable pace. When we got off the phone (well, after several conversations), I arranged to get my transcripts over and worked out an achievable plan. I had a little wiggle room left before the January start and I was trying to keep my costs down, so I took 3 courses online (Study.com) and came in with the maximum transferrable credits.

I began my Exceltrack program on January 31st. I worked diligently, methodically, tirelessly, and am BEYOND proud to say, that 6 months later - I GRADUATED!! The Exceltrack was a perfect fit for me, and I couldn't be more grateful to Lawrence, and Purdue Global, for allowing me to achieve this - my family is so proud of me, and guess what? I no longer have that "ick" feeling or imposter syndrome. Thank you for the opportunities, the wealth of knowledge I gained, the really cool assignments, and even the not-so-cool assignments, the professors, and the help center - which I visited a few times in my journey. Don't be surprised if you hear from me again in the future as I contemplate a Master's Degree.

I had a 20-year gap between graduating high school and deciding to go back to school. For many years, I prioritized others' needs over my own, conforming to their agendas instead of following my own. Surprisingly, COVID-19 brought many blessings; when I was laid off from my 15-year job in Hospitality Management, I finally had the time to breathe, reflect, and rediscover my own aspirations.

To my delight, I connected with an amazing Student Advisor who guided me through the application process, ultimately helping me get accepted.

Given my busy schedule, I enrolled in the Excel Program, which fit perfectly with my lifestyle. The program allowed me to work at my own pace and provided ample support from professors and tutors included in the tuition. The student portal was user-friendly and made it easy to find the resources I needed.

When I was involved in a severe car accident resulting in a significant brain injury, I had to take a few months off to recover. Throughout this challenging time, my advisor remained a steadfast advocate for my education, motivating me to continue when I was ready. He handled my OCD panic attacks with exceptional care and helped make my experience at Purdue Global top-notch, clear up to the very end.

All of my professors were excellent, especially during my Capstone project, where I gained invaluable skills to enhance my work experience. My time at Purdue Global has been 100% enjoyable, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone considering returning to school. It is never too late to pursue your degree. Purdue Global is the place to achieve your academic goals, and you will be proud of your accomplishments, just as I am.

My higher learning education at Purdue Global University has been a great experience i can't even stress how good of an experience it was every instructor that I had was a experienced professional in their field, as well the instructors were understanding to my needs ,because I am a working adult and some times life happens and all of the instructors understood and they were all compassionate in that aspect. As a full-time employee, this school provided the flexibility and autonomy for me to succeed. When I first enrolled I had been out of school for 13 years after received my Associates in Animal Science. My previous experience in school was traditional with on-campus classes, multiple books per course, and reliance on scantron tests. It was a shock to my system to have everything online and it scared me at first. After the 2nd week of attending, I realized how much better this format fit with my lifestyle... Academic Writer was the resource I used the most as it formatted all of my papers easily, catalogued all of my references, and was a central location for all of the papers written throughout my degree. This has been a great school. I really enjoyed most of the instructors and the entirely online format, which meshed well with working full time. My one thing to note with the online format is that there are weekly seminars that you must attend or watch and submit a sort of review of. I finished an associate's degree at Purdue University Global last year. After a break, I decided to go back for my bachelor's. This time the experience has been nothing but stressful. I choose to take some courses from other programs to cover some of the credit hours. These programs advertise that they are equivalent. I took a few courses and sent in my transcript to find that one of the classes was no longer acceptable as a transfer credit. The Registrar's Office claimed that it was no longer equivalent... Read More as of 2021. However, I found another person that had the credit applied to their transcript just 5 months previous to my completion of the course. Following that experience, I checked with my advisor about another class I wanted to take for credit hours. She sent a message to the Registrar's Office and they confirmed that the classes were equivalent. After completing that workload and sending my transcript the credits were not applied. I'm a week away from starting my final term and I no longer have an advisor, only a functional email to message regarding concerns. The support I am receiving this year is inconsistent. I've spent over $30,000 at this school and I feel very defeated as I've been putting so much effort into graduating this year and cannot get the answers or support I need.

Im conflictes about recommending Purdue. My classes were great, the instructors were great for the most part, but the support services (ie student services and different advisors) have really made my experience poor. Ive spoken to multiple customer service members to try to get questions answered and during many of the interactions, i was disappointed. It started last year when waiting on the Dean for weeks to approve a class overload that never happened. I eventually signed up for the classes anyway... Next I have received conflicting information about classes I could take based on prerequisites where ultimately I had to complain about taking my last 2 classes together because I was told I couldn't at the last minute. More importantly for graduation, there is nobody to call in and talk to when you have questions. My advisor really couldn't answer if I was able to graduate this session, since i was currently enrolled so i finally was able to email and get an answe. I am getting to walk at the graduation but still dont know if the correct honors will be attributed to me. I have a 3.91 gpa now and at yhe end of this session I should have a 4.0 but dont know how that will work since last day of class is Aug 11 and I walk Aug 13. When I do speak with someone, ive experienced less than favorable customer service, where I leave away feeling like the operator was only interested in getting me off the phone. I am an HR manager and my employer pays for our tuition so its disappointing to say I cant say Purdue University Global will be my first recommendation of schools if Im asked which University Id recommend. I wish I could provide other feedback but want to report so maybe someone else wont experience the same.

PG has made working full time & going to school way easier than it would've been somewhere else. My professors were caring, great listeners, and friendly.
