Degree: Data Analytics

I attended San Jose State University from Fall 2022 up until May 2025. I was in the online Information Science & Data Analytics undergraduate program. I would say overall the program has been nothing but great for me. The different types of classes are from cyber security, data science, information security, etc. They all taught very well, and I got out numerous skills and knowledge from each of them. The professors for my school were excellent as well. Even though it was an online program, the connection... Read More

Degree: Healthcare Informatics

Although I would not immediately recommend this program to just anybody that is interested, it MIGHT be an ideal program in a particular situation depending on the student's career path and what they want and expect from this degree. However, my impression of the curriculum in this online graduate degree program is that it is more of an OVERVIEW or SURVEY of informatics in general. Each semester is divided in half with courses being 9 weeks in length. This time frame worked out fine for some courses,... Read More

Degree: Data Science

Avoid the UW Data Science master's programs at all costs! The professors didn't really teach anything at all. Normally i would be fine with this, if they would just give us books to read or other sources to study from. But the material they provided did not actually cover what we were expected to learn. They prided themselves on their website & chatsite to give information, but they still didn't use it to teach anything, and the sites were not as impressive as other free options elsewhere. All they... Read More

This university makes me feel that the US is now a 3rd world country! Make no mistake and avoid this place! Why aren't news casters reporting and investigating on the poor education system that is on the side of criminals rather than students and its own people? Someone needs to report these to the general public and protect their own people! This university gives people a hard time, not in a challenging way. I feel that I barely escaped by leaving the area as its been drastically hit by crime and... Read More

Degree: Health Sciences

San Jose State University is a great college to attend to further your education. Since I have graduated there have been many changes around the campus that really feels like a top of the line school. A new recreation center, a new pool, new dorm rooms built for students. However, just like any college there are pros and cons. One con to consider is the area. With being located in the middle of downtown there are some dangers that can arise when there due to the homeless population. Another to consider... Read More

Degree: Art History

SJSU is a great college for those looking to major in engineering or business. Sitting in the heart of the Bay Areas texhnindustry, most other schools on campus fell by the wayside and went unnoticed, the Arts especially. The Art building is one of the oldest on campus and still has yet to be renovated. It sits there as sad proof that the university does not care about the humanities. Arts lacked funding to even keep certain required classes available every semester, making classes impacted and causing... Read More

Degree: Biology

The science department, specifically the chemistry department, at San Jose State is very much underrated. The faculty is exceptional and has a good list of publications. In the biochemistry side of the department, there are many young teachers with fresh approaches to the classroom. The labs are reasonably sized, so each student gets a good amount of hands-on time and practical experience.

To me, SJSU is a friendly campus with its diverse community, amiable staff and eloquent lecturers. Student activities are outstanding in terms of multicultural events and different organizations. The online system for grade is not too effective for checking.

Degree: Sociology

The Sociology Graduate program at San Jose State University is wonderful. The professors and faculty have students in their best interest and really care about how they improve and succeed both personally and academically. I applied here on a whim, and glad I did. The graduate program here changed my life and Im looking forward to how it will change the lives of other students - both current and prospective.

Degree: Teaching

The degree that I am in is fine but I have a problem with the overall school. San Jose State is starting to become a school that is caring less and less about students and more about money. This year SJSU admitted a record number of students at the school. They mask this as an act of generosity towards including all students but this is a lie. They only admitted more students for more tuition money and more out of state students to get more out of state tuition, which is much more expensive. This... Read More

I wasted 4 years here studying my undergraduate degree. It's an awful school, especially now that the tuition and other rates have skyrocketed for current/future students. Luckily, I also studied at 3 WONDERFUL universities in other countries. I am currently doing my postgraduate degree in England, and couldn't be more delighted with the university, program, etc. It's not that I'm picky; SJSU simply SUCKS! PROS of SJSU: 1. It sounds nice saying you study/studied in the "Silicon Valley" 2. They have... Read More

Campus is ideal location wise, the staff are very professional, and the campus is large. Diversity is scarce but there are tons of activities and groups prompting a diverse campus. They offer many assistance programs and resources for freshmen, like book loaning programs.

Of Course, San Jose State University needs some work but what educational institute perfect. every school or department needs to grow with the times and create changes that will help students. When it comes to the anthropology department i have nothing but love and admiration for our faculty they were the perfect mixer of helpful and demanding to prepare us for the next chapters of our life, and to create and shape us into the anthropologist we one day will be.

If you are interested in tax and would want to work there this program is perfect because it is all focused on tax. You get the opportunity to take different courses that specify on the different taxpayers such as corporate, personal, etc. So if there is a specific group that you want to focus once you start working in a big 4 this is a perfect opportunity to learn more before you start working.
