Everything was great until it was time to pay SNHU. They told me I had a grace period but they were so greedy that they sent it to collection without giving me time to pay and I requested over and over for a payment plan they didn't care once I graduated. The financial team was rude and lied to me

DO NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL IF YOU ARE FINANCIAL AID RECIPIENT.

SNHU has an awful Financial Aid Department and there's a strong likelihood that any random student can be “flagged” for “Secondary Verification”. When this happens it will be the death of your enrollment there. This will also mean you will not receive your Aid Package disbursement and will be dropped from your classes without appeal mid-term. Your aid will be canceled and then you'll be billed for your tuition.

My experience was as follows:... Read More

After spending months of sometimes daily sometimes weekly contact with SNHU's admissions department I started school on Monday, September 1st. Then on Friday, September 5th I received an email saying I had been selected for “Secondary ID Verification”,(they never conducted a first one). They wanted photos front and back of my ID and proof of live subject via video. This email was sent on September 5th, it came with a deadline of SEPTEMBER 5TH. Yes, the deadline was the same day they sent it out. I met this deadline and submitted all requested docs through SNHU's own third party provider's portal, with proof of live subject.

The ID provided was a brand new government issued ID, issued two months earlier and is fully compliant with all the new Federal TSA and Homeland Security protocols. A REALID Gold Star ID. I provided full facial recognition scan as well.

I subsequently submitted/uploaded a copy of my Birth certificate front and back, 3 different bank cards front and back in my name, and a second ancillary form of photo ID (photo ID badge from work)

I complained about making a request on the same day as the deadline. I called in as well. Got smart Alec responses and no reply dead-end emails back.

SNHU put all my Aid on hold while “processing” my ID submission. Their provider, “Persona” said 3 to 5 business days. SNHU said they needed 7 to 10 business days. This time frame caused a delay in my funding as it was placed “on hold”.

After 10 business had expired and my Aid not being disbursed I called and emailed complaints. I had been attending classes and maintaining a grade average in excess of 96 percent in all my classes.

Despite all this, and 100 percent of the problem being SNHU's, I was dropped the day after my complaint about them taking longer than their own set time limit. I said, “If I'm late on an assignment my grades suffer. Why are you allowed to be late if im not”

The following day I received an email saying I'd been dropped from class because ,”SNHU was unable to verify my Identity within the allotted 10 day time frame.” Their time frame, their failure, their negligence, their incompetence, BUT MY LOSS, MY PUNISHMENT, MY AID HIJACKED. I'd been dropped from class mid-term and my FASFA money withheld.

They then had the nerve to bill me and tell me I owed then 6000 dollars even though I was approved for an Aid package from FASFA, but SNHU wasn't going to let me have it because they wouldn't accept my state of the art brand new State Issued ID, and abundant additional proofs, having met an exceeded 100% of their own submission requirements without them making any request whatsoever for additional verification. Just summarily dropped without legitimate justification or recourse.

I've filed a complaint with the Department of Education and the BBB. It's still an open case.

SNHU cost me months of time and hard work, followed by loss of my Financial Aid. This set me back four to six months on my education and destroyed many plans I had made while building my life around my attendance and expectation of cash disbursements to defray expenses I had incurred in so doing. I had to break promises made, looked like a liar and a fool to all my friends and family, and am experiencing mental pain and suffering as a result of SNHU's inexcusable, unprofessional and possibly criminal mistreatment of me.

If you expect to be treated well with professionalism and have hopes of receiving cash credits back as part of financing your education with FASFA funding DO NOT CHOOSE Southern New Hampshire University.

I enrolled for psychology and at first they were very helpful. My advisor was very inconsistent and did not contact me back when we had a scheduled time to talk. I couldn’t get in touch with her or much of anyone. I do not recommend enrolling here online or in person! They dropped me out and affected my fasfa for no reason!! Ridiculous and a waste of your time!

I would not recommend using SNHU Online to further your studies. As an older individual attending classes, I had a 4.0. That was until one lecturer accused me of utilizing artificial intelligence. My work was "too well-written", which in her mind was a criminal offense. I'm in my forties and can write quite well. She did not even read the paper I produced, which took me three days to complete after extensive editing and revising. My paper was identical to the work I had submitted throughout the semester.... I'm not sure how people are saying that they have so many problems, my experience was great. I did notice the reviews appear to be the same for several colleges here. My advisor was helpful, tracked my progress, worked with me through any issues. Financial Aid did take time, but I got answers every time I contacted them. The courses are updated regularly and student feedback used to adjust, particularly recently a challenging (BUS 225) and heavy workload class was changed to lessen the amount of... Read More

I had a good experience for the most part during my years of attendance at Southern New Hampshire University. Having the ability to complete my BA completely online was the perfect solution for me. The learning environment is mostly independent work, and self teaching, with the support of being able to ask your professor questions as needed. This is perfect for people who can succeed in this type of learning environment, but not great for those who need full instructor led lessons. The class finals... Read More

Do not waste your time going/taking online classes here. The amount of misinformation I received on numerous occasions is mind boggling. I will never recommend this university to anyone. From the beginning, I stated NUMEROUS times that I did not want to use financial aid. I planned to pay in full with or without the grant I received after being pushed to fill out a FAFSA. But now, I am being asked to pay the amount that includes financial aid. Talk about a rip off. I have called and spent many hours... Read More

If you want to get a degree, and want to actually trust the administration to handle your account correctly (not stress you out each semester) don't use SNHU. I will scream it from the mountain tops. DO NOT USE SNHU. I only went here for two, 8 week semesters, and that was enough. That should speak volumes.

This school is not bad overall but I had death in my family and even about lost my house. The school seem to understand but then they kicked me out. They said that they sent email to the school email address but never heard from the school's advisor. The school is not good at reaching out. I had to call them to ask why I was take out of my classes. I will say do not trust the school's advisor they are not much help to you.

I’m in the military and have attended 4 other colleges throughout my career, both in person and online. I confidently say I would only recommend SNHU to my enemies. Not a single part of the experience was good. Don’t let their sales team, I mean admissions, suck you in. Do yourself a favor, find a different school.

SNHU billed me for courses I never took. Their dispute team ignored evidence, forcing me to pay Nelnet for fake debts. Financial nightmare for my family of eight. Stay far away!
SNHU’s current dispute resolution process meets baseline federal requirements but fails to address the financial and emotional toll of erroneous charges on vulnerable students.

The flexibility is really the only good thing about their program. But at the same time it’s a double edged sword. The classes are not challenging, they are very repetitive, and I do not feel like it bettered my career.

The worst part however is the customer service. I am in a dispute with debt collector, because I withdrew from a class I did not want to be in and they failed to actually remove me. This resulted in me getting an incomplete F and my federal loan being revoked without any notice. They... Read More

The financial aid department started accepting my award amounts without allowing me to see them first. I had to repeatedly fill out loan reduction forms because they don't allow you to modify them before they accept them on your behalf. They chose your classes for you, which is okay, but my advisor enrolled me in 2 of my electives without consulting me (utterly unrelated to the career path I established with her). I thought they were required because it was inconceivable that they would choose electives... Read More

My SNHU experience has been nothing but frustrating and disappointing. I was told by my academic advisor for the last year (since April 2024) that this current term is my last term and that I have no additional classes to take. I have this in writing (via emails and program evaluations) numerous times over the last year, and two weeks before the end of this term, my advisor calls me and says "our system messed up. You actually aren't graduating this term and need more classes." Can you imagine mentally... Read More

I wanted something like the degree I would have received in a 5-year program at Northeastern University, and after some research, I chose SNHU. Other schools would have taken my experience and credits and enrolled me in 10 classes to get my bachelor's degree. SNHU did not, and I'll finish this year by taking 30 classes, it’s been challenging!... Read More

Their student support/customer service is garbage. When their system/professor causes an issue that isn't the student's fault, they are completely unhelpful. Their rubrics/assignments are vaguely worded and not always applicable to the reading materials. They're disorganized, and their communication is awful. Seriously. Go ANYWHERE else.

The instructors were good as well, of course, there are some that you never really hear from but majority were helpful. I had every obstacle thrown at me but SNHU helped me along the way. My experience with Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) has been frustrating, particularly with their Financial Aid department. SNHU overpaid my financial aid, and since then, I’ve been bombarded with harassing emails demanding an “overpayment resolution letter.” However, they provide no guidance or explanation for what such a letter should contain. Despite multiple attempts to reach out for clarification, my emails were ignored.

SNHU doesn’t seem to care about the impact their mistakes have on students, especially when those students are relying on financial aid to better their lives. Instead of offering support, they add unnecessary stress with their lack of oversight and failure to take responsibility.
If you're considering SNHU and value your financial stability or peace of mind, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. This school does not prioritize its students' well-being when it comes to financial matters.

It gets you the degree and that's it. The courses are all created by course designers and the instructors solely grade. Instructor quality varies wildly, which is exasperated by the accelerated 10 week semesters. The substance of the assignments is surface level with the foundational line of financial reporting courses being built on 3rd party homework modules that are automatically graded.
