All in all, my experience so far has been awful. Teachers are hit or miss, way too much emphasis on route book work rather than actual learning.

The labs are all outdated, and everything is hilariously old school in their explanation. It feels very behind and frankly, a waste of time.

Student loan department is a joke and doesn't know how their own services work. I've been told four different things by the same department regarding a student loan issue I have. And my coach is next to useless.

The IT classes aren't bad, if only outdated. However, every single other class is a joke and you can't adjust your schedule to ensure you're taking classes you need. They just care about the credit hours. I'll apparently finish my IT degree having only taken 1 programming class! Most class grades rely on "Discussion Posts" that have little to do with what the class is about. Then you had better make sure you write a whole paragraph or two for their one-sentence question, then a paragraph or more... Read More back to someone else, but make it an "organic conversation". My current class requires a book that only gets assigned for reading, but doesn't actually talk about any of the concepts being brought up in the class, and is never mentioned in class beyond having pages assigned. Someone is getting a nice kick-back for that I'm sure. I'm not even paying for these classes and I still fell like I'm getting ripped off.

This school sounds like a really good school but please read the reviews from other students and attend at your own risk! My sister attended the school before strayer classes were free and finished her degree in four years. I attend and even though I'm passing classes and taking free Sophia classes I still have 14 classes left after four years. My sister only took two classes a quarter and yet still finished within four years, I take three classes a course because I add a Sophia class and my graduation... Read More date is set at September 2028!. Not to mention when I signed up for financial aid I was thinking they have everything together and will only send me extra funds. They have a whole borrowing program that seems to have everything mapped out for you. But now because they were sending me money I am now short on financial aid and have to quit classes with only 14 left. I feel like this has been a huge waste of time and has put me in debt for no reason because I do not have a degree to get a job with. All in all the school seems fishy because none of the financial aid process makes sense. And the only solution is to speak with a coach who just gone confuse you more. I'm so confused, frustrated, and tired. I'm very upset I wasted so much time doing so much unnecessary work! Seems to me like either they scamming or the government scamming. Either way I thought everything was good only to find out it was not ok.

Strayer University was the first college to contact me when I came out of rehab in 2022. I needed something to be proud of for myself since I had just gone through one of the lowest points of my life, followed immediately by the best choice of my life--checking into a mental hospital and then choosing inhouse rehab. Read More I chose accounting. I do not know how other online universities operate, but at Strayer the human connection is not there. I get an email from both of my professors before the semester starts and a text once a week about a zoom meeting that I have the option to attend or not. The course work, in my opinion, could be learned from going to the library and doing research in accounting and save me thousands of dollars. The tuition has increased from 1400 per class to 1580 per class. Why? It is not like the cost of internet connections has increased over 10,000 percent for the need to increase tuition this much. We take our classes from our homes on our computers. To me, they are money-hungry. The one positive that came out of my enrollment at Strayer was the mentor they assigned me my first semester. Misty is her name and she and I have become best of friends. I am currently enrolled at Strayer and I have 3 weeks left in this semester. Once this semester is over I will be leaving Strayer and attending a university that offers a degree in psychology with a focus on substance abuse counseling. These are just my opinions. I have good and bad well I graduated which is excellent, as far as career internships or partnership with companies to help with career advancement per degree, none. Now let's go into official transcript takes forever for whatever reason that is ultimately preventing me from starting Graduate School at another University it's crazy but if you were continuing with STRAYER you could start ASAP. It's crazy because I recommended this school to a few people and two of them are currently still attending but I have been keeping them updated on the BS pertaining to situations I have delt with while attending. I attended Strayer for only two semesters. In that time I completed 18 credits. The courses are insanely easy, including Sophia, which only requires a 70 to pass, no challenge, no real education. It did not take me long to discover that this was a diploma mill business. The discussion boards are filled with....well you'll see....people asking when they'll get their disbursement checks, asking for money to pay their rent, asking to add people on IG and face book to "hang out". Not only were the classes a joke, I had three different advisors in a short time who never really had a clue how to advise and I never bothered trying to reach out to a career coach. The school offers no major affiliations. Besides resume building and possibly a mock interview; your on your own from start to finish.

I am a vet that decided to pivot to IT during the pandemic after some financial setbacks and other life problems. The VA pushed out the VRRAP program and I am very thankful for this as my other military benefits were exhausted. I am able to relax a little while I earn my degree from home, but I am not gullible! I just put a sock in it and "kept my head down" once I realized I was thrown into the trap. Read More While they offer education, it seems like a business model made that profits off of whatever the student can get told to pay under the veil of it being for education. I am grateful for the VRRAP program being paid for, however, I was disappointed this was the only option the VA would offer to pay for career development. I have to be honest. I was in a Master's of Public Administration program and was one class away from graduating. I ran out of funds when I stopped going. The classes were easy. If you just want a degree without learning anything or putting in much work then this school is perfect for you. If you actually want to learn or be challenged this isn't the school for you. I had professors that just gave A's without actually looking at your work. In one online class I was taking I used to turn in the same... Read More work every week and received the same great comments and an A in the class. All of the work and answers can be found online already completed by many other students. In one Master's level in person class I was taking we were discussing Amazon, Facebook, and online banking that it was all brand new. The class was more like a basic introductory class. However, the school is regionally accredited. The school is also a bit expensive but, for little effort you can get a Master's degree that any college will accept if you just want the class credit.

I have been employed in the healthcare industry for decades, and only needed the degree now because my company was acquired by an organization that requires it for me to advance any further. I already earn as much if not more than others with a degree because of my experience. Strayer is ok, but your experience will vary class to class depending upon the professor. Last semester, I had a professor who insisted we use the questions asked for the discussion as an outline in our posts...the only reason for this would be to make it easier for her to grade. It did nothing to enhance an organic discussion experience. The caliber of the student body seems pretty low. Strayer admits anyone who can pay. As a result, there are many students who are not really performing at college level, and it shows. I can only imagine what the assignments look like that students hand in when there are so many grammatical and spelling errors in the discussions. Class grade averages are frighteningly low, too. I took two classes last semester, and the last week of class the averages were 68 and 72. While some professors record themselves taking you through the material (like a real lecture), the vast majority do not. It is entirely up to the student to read and comprehend the material from the textbook, ancillary material, and LinkedIn learning recordings. It really is self-study on a schedule. Am I loving the experience? No, I'm not. My company is picking up the tab, and with 11-12 more years of work ahead of me, I want one more promotion and am not really looking to change companies to one that values experience more than a piece of paper. At this point, I am keeping my head down and moving toward the finish line. I just want this chapter closed.

I must say that the professors here are amazing! On the other hand I will say that many of the support team members (Student coaches) have no idea what they are doing. In my 15 months I was assigned to approximately 5-6 student coaches. With that said, the only time that I ever heard from a student coach was when it was time to sign up for more classes. Outside of registering for more courses, it was like pulling teeth to get a coach on the line. They will not return calls, but will send random e-mails... Read More never answering questions. I've had coaches dis-enroll me from courses due to their lack of understanding as to how VA funding works. The sad part is that I referred 2 other peers that are also retired military and we have all had the extremely painful nightmare of making it through our degree programs. Strayer University was a great investment. Upon graduation I noticed a major increase in interests from employers. I have gained confidence in areas such as marketing, financial statements, and business operations. Strayer does a great job of breaking down complex material and delivering it in an easy to comprehend fashion. Do you want your assignments graded on an assembly line from a part time employee who is not your teacher? Well, at Strayer, that is exactly what they do. It will be hard to find a career with a degree at Strayer University compared to a degree from other institutions. Their part time workers will quickly look over your assignments and then click a button that will automatically give you a grade reply. The same is true when you think a person is responding to you within a discussion board. The part time workers are trained to look for key words and then click a button that will give you something that you think is a unique response when they never read your assignment. Part time workers who grade your assignments have quotas, so everyone is rushed to complete them while they have a team who is looking only at plagiarism. That is correct, they have people who automatically assume you are dishonest and will investigate every paper you turn in. The discussion boards are very easy as most of the questions are related to your opinion and personal experience. The tests are very easy because all the answers are found online. The assignments have some challenging aspects, but if you follow the template, you are likely to earn a very high grade. Do you really want to learn like this? You would not because you will learn some things, but you will not learn everything an employer is really looking for. Employers who know Strayer and their reputation will not hire their students. Employers who may not realize how bad they are may hire their students, but those students are likely to struggle as they did not learn the material needed to be successful in the real world. The best definition for diploma mill is Strayer University.

The school is geared towards working adults. It has met the requirements I had expected going into the program. It has assisted with progressing in my career, and put me in a position to pursue a higher degree. You must be self motivated to learn the material, and to be successful in the program.
