Not sure why the negative reviews. You truly get out of it, what you put in. Structured program with good interactions with peers and faculty. No issues with UMUC. Currently maintaining a 4.0 and taking 6 hours per semester. Requires about an hour a day and two when working an assignment/project. Great school for those who are using the full online course.

I read some of the reviews and thought I'd put my own thoughts here. I got my bachelors from Indiana University and wanted to do an on-line Masters for the convenience and to experience a different method of curriculum delivery. I find the program challenging, but I echo a few others in saying that you get out of it what you put into it. The grading is consistent and UMUC's online platform is very stable. The course work is arguably taxing and demanding in terms of time, which is why I would advise... Read More

This is an excellent program for the working professional. Due to the online environment there is a strong focus on research and writing and the discussions require knowledge of the week's readings. One recent change is the elimination of the standard textbooks from the course materials. Instead all readings are from articles peer-reviewed journals and other reputable sources the instructors have found to be relevant to the class.

UMUC is a great school. They work with students when needed for missing classes due to whatever your reasons may be. The teachers are there to make sure that you understand the content and not just to pass the class but to truly understand it to keep with you in the long run.

Don't listen to the complainers. I am one week from completing my master's from UMUC and am proud of the hard work and time that I have put into this program. "It's a challenge, if you miss a deadline no one cares, I was on vacation and missed coursework" (some of the reviews I have been reading). Clearly, the individuals complaining that have decided to give UMUC a negative rating expected an A for not participating or making an effort to produce well written and thoughtful papers. I have a full-time... Read More

I did my undergraduate and graduate work with UMUC. UMUC is a very diverse school that meets the needs of an array of professionals. However, financial aid was rated low, because information for scholarships and other means, besides loans, was not readily available or promoted. Networking could be improved by promoting opportunities, both virtual and face-to-face, for students to interact. Since classes are available both on-line and on-campus, transportation was not a major factor. Nevertheless,... Read More

This school is good because it has flexibility for the working population. A con would be that you only can take two classes at a time so there is no chance to graduate early.

The program offers practical, pertinent and effective training, provided by excellent faculty for the most part. Students start their dissertation in at the end of the first year after completing three, six-credit courses. However, for a part-time student working full-time, the workload is very demanding and time-consuming. Also program is stressful in that classes are sequenced and students cannot move forward if they fail a course; and students can fail and retake only one course. A second failure... Read More
