It was incredibly convenient - fully online, while I was working full time. The online course work was challenging, but the online portal made it easy to complete assignments. Having a fully online degree program with students around the world can be problematic - group assignments were difficult to complete sometimes due to different time zones. I enrolled here based on a recommendation from a friend and fellow UMUC MBA graduate. In hindsight, I wish I had taken my time to choose more carefully. This program pushes paper out the door efficiently as long as you pay, so if you're self motivated, you can learn and earn your degree, but so will a handful of other ignorant slackers that barely put forth any effort. This was quite frustrating and disappointing so you'll have try your best to stay focused and select to work with the right group... Read More of people. The networking opportunities are not great at all. You get your degree and that's it for the most part...$20K+ and nothing but echoes afterwards. Their career center is a complete joke, lacking any serious support or interest from any angle. I went to back school as a result of the financial crisis, while taking some time off, I decided to apply for a job while working on my MBA at UMUC and work somewhere within the academic environment to keep busy and be involved. I interviewed for a position I was well overqualified for, and the very young team of employees interviewing my actually asked me if I would "feel uncomfortable working with younger people and reporting to a younger manager considering my age" (I was just 39 at the time). I laughed at yet another UMUC debacle and left and decided to take the rest of the year off while I finished my MBA and wait for the economy to rebound. I should have scared the crap out of those young fools with a little EEOC lesson. In the end, I found a job through my own professional networking efforts, my MBA did little to support my professional career. Still, I'm glad I earned it. I successfully stayed true to my commitment to get the most out of the material and earn A's (B's are more readily available, A's require effort) and it feels good to have an MBA, although one from a more respected and prestigious school would have been much more. This university is very diverse which can be attributed to the huge military presence associated with this school. We had students from all walks of life, different nationalities, and cultural backgrounds which allowed the university to give a unique learning experience to their students. This specific program was great because you go through the program in cohorts, so even though it was online, you felt like you were able to connect with your classmates because they were there with you from the... Read More beginning. Having that connection and trust built within the cohorts really added value to the learning experience while abroad. As students, we were able to develop a since of camaraderie which helped us through this, sometimes challenging, program. The course work was sufficient and I have been able to use the concepts that I've learned in the work place. They actively use technology to facilitate learning like Google+, WebEx, or Voice over IP which added a different dimension to the learning experience. I will definitely continue my education with this university. *I could not grade every category because I took the entire course work online.

The University of Maryland University College (UMUC) is a great school to attend if you do not want to take the GMAT. They have a rigious MBA Program where you are grouped with a cohort throughout the program. The student gets the opportunity to build long lasting friends, networks, and alliances. The university is committed to minimizing the costs for course materials, and the professors provide extension feedback for the student's growth.
