The MBA program is a joke, as there is no real substance to it and the six 6-credit courses are very redundant in terms of concepts and coursework. The courses are also not entirely clearly written, as some instructions and project rubrics contradict themselves. Additionally, you're graded by color (green/yellow/red), which somehow translates to letter grades. There is no real quantifiable data to back the grades up and your results are very subjective. No textbooks; no exams or quizzes or anything... Read More of the like. In all six classes, my instructors were full-time professionals or adjuncts at (sometimes several) other schools, which made communication interesting. If you're looking to check a box, get a 4.0, and be handed an overpriced master's, have at it. If not, save the time, money, and effort. If I had to do it all over again, I'd certainly do it somewhere else.

After the basic grad-level research and writing courses then you start with the actual courses. I had experienced professors. We had lots of research papers, collaborative projects, and seminars. I read The material and selected research relevant to my field and experience. It taught me virtual collaboration tools, how to work in a mobile and networked environment on top of the subject matters. Read More If you are a lazy baby where you need constant reassurance, this is not the right environment. This is for adults and working professionals. I am VP of Finance and earn over $130k a year. I still use some of the materials and case studies. I worked with other working managers in their fields and tried to pick it team mates often who had other backgrounds. I was always the finance guy. And I would always read others bios and pick marketing, technology, legal, managers to get a rounded supply of ideas in our projects. Is this right for you? Yes if you are a busy profesional. No if you are a Social butterfly that needs to make life-long bonds.

I am enrolled in the online general MBA program without any concentrations. I have three more courses to go before completion. For me, the MBA program would be more beneficial if I lived in the Maryland or DC areas, because thats where many of the jobs are that are posted on UMUCs career website. Not only that, I have moved from a major northern city in the U.S. to a small town and there arent many job opportunities here like I thought it would be. The MBA would almost be useless here. The course work is intense, and I honestly dont know why people are stating its like high school. The semesters are ten weeks, and most of the time its hard to finish assignments early if you have a full time job and a life. You will need every day of the seven days of each session to complete your homework and research. The AMBA 640 Project Management course is a good course, and a good field to choose as a profession. However, you have to pay extra money (and lots of it) besides your tuition to enroll in the project management programs outside of UMUC. Everybody wants money! Many of us just dont have two grand at our disposal to invest in a program to advance our careers. We were hoping that investing in the masters program alone would solve that. It looks like it wont. Such is life. The team projects are challenging sometimes, because your team members all live across the country in other states and cities. Using skype and free conference calls along with emails is the smartest way to communicate and get a good grade on the team assignments. Communicating with team members just one time by email throughout the team assignment is just not enough. LEO is an extensive website with lots of links. Sometimes instructions are posted in more than one place on the site for each week. It may take some students some time to get accustomed to it if those students have never taken an online course. You will need a lot of time to complete homework assignments and discussion assignments to avoid submitting mediocre work resulting in scores of 70% to 80%. I have not had any problems with any professors as of yet, thank goodness. They have all been helpful, and they get back to you in a timely manner. The staff members in financial aid and advising I have communicated with over the phone are professional, and they have always given good customer service. Of all the colleges I have studied at, they are the nicest to talk to. It is refreshing to talk to someone that talks to you with a high degree of respect. The military students and law enforcement students are really bright, and its an honor to work with them. They are ambitious and make great team members. I hope to move from this, place, one day and start a career, or open my own business (my first choice) in another state and city. I think my MBA degree from UMUC would be a lot more beneficial elsewhere. Las Vegas is on my list right now. DC would be nice, but I am not sure if I want to still deal with long bitter cold winters such as I do here.

The MBA Program at University Maryland University College Europe is a great program that allows students to build on their background knowledge, while expanding students knowledge in the business field. This program teaches future MBA students to understand networking, organizational culture, and more. The current program is 18 months long that is broken down into 6 courses that are 11 weeks long. Every student will experience different professional experts in their fields and their valuable experience... Read More in those fields along with new innovated techniques to stand out to employers. Overall, this programs allows students to build on the human capital around them while learning the business trade and capitalizing on project theme assignments. The focus of the assignments is to help students understand business analyses and projects that will be expected when students enter the professional field. Each class will have 4-6 projects that students are required to complete before the class is over. But, if students do not meet the deadlines, students will be put into a 7 -day incomplete phase to finished the class and if they do not finish in the 7-day incomplete phase they will be put into a 60 -day incomplete phase allowing students to complete this program. Being a student in this program has expanded my knowledge in the business trade along with building my professional network connections, while understanding leaderships skills. Also, understanding virtual teams and how companies culture, climate, and behavior can allows their employees to be successful and apply that knowledge in a real world environment. 

University of Maryland University College (UMUC) has given me my life back. I never completed my Bachelors degree so when I was accepted into the Information Systems Management program it was such a blessing. Upon completion of my BS in 2014, I never dreamed that I would go on but UMUC has made that possible too. They have made it easy for me to pursue achieve my dreams and obtain a higher earning potential that I did not have prior. The faculty and staff are very helpful and they offer several options... Read More for taking the courses (online, hybrid, in-person). I would highly recommend them to anyone pursuing higher education.

UMUC has allowed me to to take up graduate school as I had always hoped and cut down on the many stresses I had previously held about going back to school and doing so while in the military and while deployed overseas. The staff have been phenomenal in making sure that I am taken care of up, during, and after classes that I take. The instructors are extremely educated and well honed in teaching in an online environment so it has been a mostly stress free environment as far as that aspect is concerned....
