UMass Lowell is a growing, vibrant campus with a lot to offer. They are constantly improving their buildings, improving their programs, and making efforts to help their students succeed. I think they had a lot to offer. Transportation between the campuses is sometimes difficult, and requires careful class scheduling. The dorms were somewhat old, but I know they've done tons of renovation work since I stopped living on campus. My biggest complaint is that my advisor was hard to get ahold of. Overall... When I attended UMASS: Lowell, I was living on South campus in the new Riverview building. I was initially weary of going to school in Lowell, for it's bad reputation, but on campus you forgot you were in Lowell. Most of the buildings were brand new, and almost all of my professors were helpful and wonderful. Students were open and outgoing, and I met many friends quickly. UMass Lowell has two academic campuses (North and South) and has residence halls and apartments relatively close to the school. UMass Lowell recently built University Crossing, which is a hub of all student services in one building. You can go to the bookstore, stop at the Solution Center, hang out at Multicultural Affairs, get checked out at the Wellness Center, and more its so convenient and is a better system than what they had before. UMass Lowell also has a great hockey team so if you love hockey... Read More you would love it here, students really get into the games. UMass Lowell is also not a party school! I believe UMass Lowell puts a higher focus on professionalism and student leadership. Ive gained invaluable experiences in both areas. They stand by their mission of making sure students are work ready by the time they leave the institution. UMass Lowell is also surrounded by a bunch of great restaurants some of my favorites are Eggroll Caf near north campus and Mandarins and Life Alive in downtown Lowell. In downtown Lowell, you can find more restaurants and bars. A very popular bar that students attend is Smokehouse. There is also a great spiritual community on campus, we have many denominations present. Im Christian so I attended Christian Analytical Bible Study (CABS) and started attending services at the church they are affiliated within Lowell called Full Deliverance. You can find so many things to do in Lowell. Great time to be at the institution! My only negative feedback is the student body isn't as diverse as it could be but it is getting better they recently just accepted their most diverse class. Financial aid could also be better, this is partially UMass Lowell's fault and the UMass schools system fault. There were so many changes to my financial and with financial aid rules while I was attending that financial insecurity was a constant issue for me. So, that's just something to be aware make sure your financial aid package is sound and that you understand everything in it.
