I did pay the application fee, but never received a phone call from admissions personnel, or advisor after I applied. They do not explain very clear in the online portal about a program licensing requirements, so they take the application fee, never contact with you, and you lost the money. Simple. Do not pay any application fee to this supposed "non profit" University.

I chose Cumberlands because it was affordable, but the entire process has been a nightmare. Hidden fees. Subpar education. Rude admin staff. Overall I am unsatisfied with my experience at the University of the Cumberlands and would not recommend it.

The University of Cumberland is excellent. Perfect programs for working professionals. Great professors! A lot of independent studies are required, but all professors are great to help! The graduate office and other supporting staff are helpful. Enjoyed the course with all professors.

Currently undertaking a PhD in Leadership Studies online and I have loved all my core leadership courses. However, the elective I chose was in business and with an existing MBA from a far superior school, I must say the business department at UC is at the absolute bottom of the barrel. Leadership is a joke and it is taught by woefully inadequate and highly disrespectful professors who treat students like they are naughty school children, approaching you with tremendous hostility as if you are out... I graduated from this program in Mental Health Counseling but the program went drastically downhill after the change in administration in 2018. During that time many long term professors left the school and they hired many adjuncts of variable quality. Some professors were g re at and some very unprofessional. The administration would not reply to the emails, especially the dean. You have to find a practicum and internship in your own state or you will not graduate. It has been a great struggle,... I've done multiple degrees, both online and in person. While slightly less rigorous than my in person degree, this degree is by far the best program out of the online options available. The classes are small and you call in to class every week so get face time with the professors. It is like being in class but you can wear your pajamas! I would recommend this school and program to anyone that is a professional working full time that does not want to sacrifice their academic education while still... Read More

This is a mediocre school and master's counseling program, at best. The university has been advertising and growing too fast to keep up and most online students are treated like numbers, not actual paying students. The financial aid department is a terror and when calling in you will receive someone who basically just answers the phone but knows little about the complexities of the system. For that you will need to email the financial aid department and then you will receive mostly vague answers,... Read More

I have never seen such unprofessionalism from any academic institution. Most (not all) of the professors treat the students like children and the financial aid department is the absolute worst. I am transferring to another university at the beginning of the year, thank goodness. Too many changes have happened (not for the benefit of the students). It is unorganized and stressful.

I applied to the MBA program one day and received confirmation the next that I was accepted. Very easy process overall. I am 100% online and work full time so I am taking 2 classes a semester (1 every 8 weeks since they have "biterms"). The ease to get in and cost were the biggest factors in my decision to attend UC. Unlike others that have posted on here, I have had fairly quick responses from my professors with the longest taking maybe 8 hours to respond to an email. I've been happy so far!

I started the DBA program two semesters ago. Till now the the experience has been very good. They are incorporating better systems and making adjustments to their programs. The DBA program is tough. If you are serious and want to learn, then this is the best program for you.
In case of improvements, it would be helpful to attract students with corporate experience and know how of their field. The college needs to connect with companies for higher recognition (perhaps through their students). This... Read More

This is basically an accredited diploma mill. Classes are not rigorous. Multiple times I heard that we would be learning more in a full semester than in an 8-week format. The online classes primarily consist of instructors reading PowerPoints. There is very limited student interaction except from a few discussion board responses or random comments in online chat during class sessions. The institution advertises different specialty areas to prepare for teaching content in a college. However, areas... Read More

Financial aid is painfully slow. As a holder of several degrees, I do not recall any financial aid process being so antiquated. It really needs an update to 2019. It takes nearly a month to have funds dispersed. I'll be done with the semester before it happens.

I am currently pursuing the PhD in Information Technology. I am well on my way towards completing it, but it has been quite a journey so far. I concur with one poster who states that the professor(s) may go missing for days at a time, because this has been my experience in more than one class. The biggest challenge that youll face is outdated information that will sometimes leave you confused and stumped. However, I just post my work to the best of my understanding. When I began the program at UC, it was great. It has a few bumps here and there, but the cost and online schedule made it completely worth it. And then the administration changed. From my experience, the academic side is awesome. I felt I had a decent quality education. However before you jump on this bandwagon, let me share with you my frustrations with the institution. Teachers take their time grading assigned work. There were times when I'm going into week three/four before the first assignment was graded. The program was amazing; its the administrative prosesses that are horrible. Getting started in the program was difficulty because of delays and exiting the program is difficult because of the delays and lack of response. The school clearly doens't have an apppropriate number of staff to support the growth of the student population. I'm not continuing in the doc program because I don't trust they can provide the necessary support. Great education, poor administrative/support mechnisms.
