I attended UWA online for a couple semesters in summer/fall 2024 to obtain my second bachelors. I was interested in UWA due to the low price, rolling admissions, course offerings and accelerated class schedules. However I experienced numerous issues with the advising staff, professors, book store, and online systems in general. The program I'm in is not accurate to what they advertise on the website, and there are even classes listed in the program requirements that don't exist in an online format... Read More

I am a part-time student, working full-time in the IT field. I came back to finish my Bachelor's degree so that I could better advance my career. I am not interested in being one of the millions of Americans with College debts so I am paying for my classes as I go. The advisory team seems to have to perform some type of "one-off" because I am not taking financial aid, making me feel as if I were a second-class student. I have had multiple instructors in their IT departments tell the classes to "got... Read More

I’ve been in the Alt-A M.Ed program at West Alabama for a year and was supposed to start my student teaching internship at the start of next semester (Fall ‘21), but have now been forced to delay until Spring ‘22 because the program advisor failed to sign my application (which I submitted over a month before it was due) by the deadline. I have been trying to contact said advisor since I received an email informing me that my signed app was still missing, but all I’ve gotten is an auto-reply saying... Read More

I was enrolled in the online Master of Arts in Teaching program and loved the experience at UWA. I liked the small class size, for it was easy to communicate with with peers and faculty. All course faculty had doctorate degrees. My courses were challenging, and faculty were engaged in the course. From admissions to financial aid to the graduation process, staff were professional, efficient, and caring.

"There's something about this place" is the long time motto of UWA. As a home away from home, UWA is a small close knit university where the faculty and staff take the time to get to know their students individually and collectively. They prepare students for the world in which they will enter, while simultaneously offering a memorable collegiate experience. In recent years, the university broadened its horizons to further diversify the university by establishing a program for international students.... Read More

The University of West Alabama is a good school. It is well established in Livingston, AL. I chose the master's program of continuing education in counseling Psychology. This was not a good program for me. I did not get the internship I needed to move forward. I did not have wanted I needed to become a license counselor. I would recommend this school but not the program. This school is mostly focused on certifying school personnel.

I am currently pursing an Instructional Leadership Degree from the University of West Alabama. I received my first Masters in Elementary Education from the University of West Alabama in 2008. The Faculty and Staff were extremely helpful and helped me to make the right choice of classes to ensure I finished my degree in a timely manner.

The University of West Alabama is a great small college for those students who thrive in smaller classrooms. The relationships with the professors was personal and on a first name basis in every classroom. I still speak to my professors and receive help several years after I have graduated.

The University of West Alabama is a small college filled with friendly staff and students. If you are interested in Mathematics, History, or Nursing, then the school can provide you with a great education. Everything else is just okay as far as academics go. The sports teams are not that great but do give you a chance to play collegiately.

Graduated with an Education Specialist Degree (Ed.S.) Most of the classes had the same expectations and caseload, although there were some differences. Most of the instructors were prompt in issuing grades and feedback. Do not purchase books from their book store, Amazon is cheaper. Overall, it was a good experience.

This program was inexpensive and offered online. The online program is divided into 8 week sections and allows you to take 2 courses per section. The professors were prompt in their email responses and feedback. I was able to make connections with classmates and have established friendships with them beyond the program. Since it is online it is essentially self paced, which frees up your time.

As a working, married, 39 year old, with 5 children, I feel that the pros of the online M.Ed. in Special Education program allows non-traditional students to further their education while still being in the workforce and raising families. The classrooms are very easy to navigate and the teachers are extremely helpful. I believe that not being in a traditional classroom would be my only con, only when material is difficult to grasp.
