ISU offers8 online associate degrees, online bachelor's degrees in 27 majors and 11 minors, 30 online master's degrees, and 6 online doctoral degree programs through eISU. Some degrees may require students to complete clinicals, internships, or practicums that can take place near where they live.

Online degrees from ISU are legitimate because the school is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (). Accreditation signifies that a U.S. Department of Education-recognized agency has thoroughly reviewed a school's business practices to ensure they are ethical and sound. They also examine academic programs to ensure they are high quality. NWCCU has determined that ISU meets those expectations and can deliver on promises to students. 

Many of ISU's degrees are also programmatically accredited, such as those offered through its College of Education, College of Business, and Division of Health Sciences.

As Idaho's only urban university, ISU is known as the state's designated leader in the health professions, biomedical, and pharmaceutical sciences since 1966. It has been classified as having  by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education for over a decade. ISU's Kasiska Division of Health Sciences students comprise  of the university's student body.
