Ashley, Graduated 2018

I had mixed feelings starting a program online to turn my associates into a Bachelor's degree, I saw negative reviews and was very nervous starting at this school and doing is online. The courses are challenging and of course some professors are hard to grasp, but it is beneficial to reach out to classmates, advisors and other resources to complete work. reading everything about the class, webinars are very helpful and 90% of my experience with teachers (even the small few I did not enjoy) all communicated... I have tried a few schools, but my experience at Western Governor's University was absolutely THE BEST!!! I just graduated with my B.S. in Accounting and am returning to the school to obtain my Master's in Accounting. Every experience I had with the school from dealing with my mentor to working with the finance department was A-1. Competency based learning isn't for everyone, so some will have negative comments about their experience, but WGU will always have a place in my heart an to me will always... Read More

This college was good only for getting a piece of paper. They never helped me get an internship, let alone a job after graduating. Now 3 years later I sit with 2 bachelors in accounting as a receptionist. I would deter anyone from attending this university.

Tell us about your college experience.

It was the largest school in North Carolina and the experience was overwhelming. There were so many different opportunities, clubs, and classes and I loved the immense variety.

Would you get the same degree if you could start over?

I would switch to a computer science degree. I feel like it may have been a better fit, although I really did enjoy accounting. In retrospect computer science would have been more informative and more helpful.

Take careful time in choosing a college and major. By choosing my college I was offered a substantial financial aid package that my school had a program for. Also, I was able to study abroad through my school and if I had went to 90% + other schools I probably would not have the financial opportunities to travel abroad.
