Before enrolling at Capella University, my vision was frosted. I did not know where to start or how to start but I started. Capella helped with everything from financial assistance to advising. The classes were relevant to my goals and I am still able to use the resources that were introduced by Capella in my business today. It's been two years since graduating from WGU and I have yet to secure a job in the field that my degree is in. To make matters worse, they started offering IT certifications two years into my program, yet didn't offer them to me. Funny thing is, I found out by showing some friends of mine who were prospective students, the WGU website. Read More started taking certification courses to fill in the educational gaps that my WGU education should have filled. I keep a folder of all the emails that I received from Western Governors University during that time with all of the various excuses. Now, when people ask me about my experience with the school, I show them the folder, show them my student loan debt, and explain that I am still working in the same field that I was working in when I started school. Then I let them decide if its worth the money. It was bad enough that they didn't accept most of the units I had from my A.A. degree from a previous college when I started, but all they had to do was add the certifications to my program, since I was still attending and racking up loan debt. I'd probably be working in my degree field by now if they did. They obviously knew the degree was lacking something, or they wouldn't have added the certifications. This is my W.G.U. experience.

I will finish my degree in December(at my current rate) after two years work. Classes have been easy, hard and in between. Most courses are part of a domain. For example, each course is really 2 separate classes. One class requires a test to complete and the other requires a series of tasks to be completed to prove competency. I found the tasks much more difficult than studying for the tests and required me to go deeper in the material. After reviewing the courses and accreditation with my company,... Read More they agreed to pay 80 % of my tuition. That means I will only pay a total of 3000 dollars for my entire education. Even if I were paying for everything myself, it would still be a bargain. I have learned a lot. In addition to the course material, I love how most tasks require the use of Excel, Word or Power Point and other standard business applications. The negative reviews on this site baffle me.

Definitely not impressed. The enrollment, advising and orientation process was awful. Poor communication and long waits for no reason. Couldn’t get anyone on the phone for 3 hours. When I finally did they couldn’t do anything. Teachers were boring and did seem to have relevant experience for the classes they were teaching. I completed my degree through CMU's Global Campus program which allowed me to stay close to home and continue working at the job I had at the time. My job was at Victoria's Secret and, despite most views on the company, this job was very important to me because I felt that it was teaching me things that I wasn't able to get in school. For example, 2 years into my employment, I was approached with the opportunity to participate in a 6 month management training program with the company. The great thing... Read More about this opportunity was that it prepared me for business in general, it was not solely focused on Victoria's Secret or Limited Brands (the parent company). The CMU Global Campus made it possible for me to continue working towards those goals while still obtaining a great education. My teachers for my undergraduate program were fantastic. They encouraged and pushed me to do my best with challenging projects and class participation. One of the things I like the most about the Global Campus is that you aren't learning from career professors who have no insight into the actual business world. All of my professors had been, or were currently, a part of some aspect in business for many years and were able to work that into lectures and discussions in order to give us a real world view. These teachers were also willing to work with scheduling issues. For example, when I worked my internship, there were a few nights that I had to work events that conflicted with class. Never once did I have a teacher put me in a position where I had to choose, instead they would work with me to make sure that I was able to work the event while still obtaining all information from class. If you are looking for a school that can fit a crazy schedule with teachers who understand real world experience, CMU's Global Campus should definitely be considered. Your degree comes from a nationally accredited, well known university, but can be done without having to bend and fold to the regular college lifestyle.

The academic advisors and faculty at CSU Northridge were really helpful and caring. I regularly met with my academic advisor to ensure I was taking the right courses and meeting the additional requirements for graduation. The faculty was also helpful whenever I had questions and they all made time during their office hours or by email. They were responsive and helped guide me when I wasnt sure which direction in academics I wanted to go. I changed my major from accounting to finance (business administration... Read More & finance) after talking with a few professors and working part time for an account and part time for a financial adviser. I took courses at a satellite location for the majority of my requirements and took the required classes at the main campus. The campus was easy to navigate, there was lots of student clubs and networking groups to join, and the alumni association was very helpful after I graduated. The career center was also helpful in helping with my resume and job search. The business administration with an option in finance degree at CSU Northridge was highly regarded by those in the surrounding business community. The curriculum in the finance department was very on par with the real world, as I was working in financial services while going to college. What I learned in school I could immediately apply at work and gave me a better understanding of what I was doing in my day to day work life. I still have some of my textbooks from college and reference them in the financial foundations and principles. Even though it became difficult at times to juggle school and work, I am grateful to all that my college life taught me as a foundation for my future work life.

Ok, stop and please read this before enrolling in ECPI. Now before I begin, I am allowed my opinion, and this doesn't go for every person. This is just a helpful review or advice. I just recently dropped from ECPI, was going to transfer to Ashford University. I am unsure of Ashford University, I just think that it has pretty good reviews plus I have a familiy member who attends and they love it! So, anyways... I enrolled in ECPI at the end of Feb. 2014 and I had to take the petty free class to show... Read More me how to use the basic "Moodle" system. It was like a normal 5 week term would go, and it just showed you around. I then started 2 classes for 5 weeks and so on. After 5 weeks, I would begin a new set of classes, and so forth. Now I was good my first term, had some excellent instructors very understanding and helpful. It was my 3rd term with ECPI were I ran into some problems. They had scheduled me for a math and english at the same time. Now I had specifically told them I would like those classes to be taken alone not with another class, especially with each other. SO all I did was withdrawal from one and I took one class that term, instead of getting a bs class to take along with it. So, then I emailed my student services advisor and she was suppose to fix it. Where I wouldn't have to take the classes together again. Now, I came to a term where I had 2 hard classes and 2 horrible instructors! They had changed my SSA so I had to email my new one, whom took 2 weeks to get back to me. The teachers always answered my questions about assignments after the due dates. They would contact you one way and the other would contact you another. So you were constantly searching for replies in your student email, moodle mail, and personal email. Then they would talk smack to you when you didn't turn assignments in on time. Then it was time to re-do my FA. and student loans, and my FA advisor sends me my award letters and what letters I need to sign. Now, I didn't get any FA back or refunds which was cool with me! But when I seen that I had to max out my loans and FA and they wanted an additional $2000 in cash to pay for classes! So you mean to tell me that my 5,300 FA aid and 3500 in S. loans isn't enough?!?! WHAT?! this doesn't make sense. Well then they tell me there are options, private loans, scholarships, and payment financing me. NO! That's not cool! I cannot be in debt 6 times over to go to school for a BA. Plus I just failed two classes because the instructors wouldn't contact me. Which I got the grades appealed but still. I don't think people should have to be bankrupt to go to school. IF that's the case, I can go across the st. to the community college and have help.
