I usually do not write reviews.....for ANYTHING, however after reading some of the negative reviews I had to put in my 2 cents worth. I did lots of research on where to go after I received my AA. This was my third attempt at college, not because I was lazy or stupid, but because life happened. I had promotions at work making it impossible to continue my studies, I got married and had kids, and struggled to try to finish an AA. I always felt odd about being at school, because I had so much life and... Read More business experience, that I felt so much of the material was a review and waste of my time. I also had a tough time being able to commit to being in 1 place at the same time every week. What I loved about this school was that I could prove I knew the subject matter by testing, and then receive credit for the understanding of the material. I scored very high on the 2 external certifications they had me take, in fact I received the 3rd highest score in the nation on my Society for Human Resource Managers Assurance of Learning exam. I only used provided material for those certifications, no external websites or study guides. I am a very independent learner, and don't need much help or guidance. What i did need was flexibility, and this school gave me that in spades. I could do a weeks worth of review on my day off, or after work, or do exams while any normal school would be closed down for the night. My mentor gave me good direction, and provided the accountability I needed on the weeks that I didn't get work done. Shoot I didn't even do any work for nearly a month one semester because of work but was still able to finish the classes during my own time frame. If you have special needs, or have to be taught by someone else directly, then I can not provide you insight because that is not how I learn. If you work well independently, and need a highly flexible, very affordable option to get your degree then go to Western Governors University.

I enrolled in the Bachelor' in Business Administration Program. I was able to transfer every credit that I had received during my two years at a brick and mortar university.

I love the ability to test out of classes as well. It has been great to work at my own pace. I am always able to get an immediate answer when I call the university with any questions. While the school is not regionally accredited, it does hold national accredidiaton. In this day and age, just the fact that the school holds national... Read More accredidation seems to be enough for the employers I have spoken with. The best plus to the program is that the tuition was half tom a quarter that of comparable schools.

The only thing to watch out for: If you take the universities plan of $100/month, remember you will not get your degree until you have paid the university in full! Overall, an awesome choice for working adults!

I am currently attending Lamar online after attending the college and I really really love it. The professors are very dedicated to helping you and answering questions. You get their phone number to call if you can't reach them by email. Financial Aid is available to those who qualify. You can take classes at whatever rate you find best unless your on finan. aid in which you have to take a set amount of hours (no less than 12 for FT students). The courses are broken into 2 8 week sessions per semester or 15 weeks. For example for 8 weeks you'll take two classes and the next 8 weeks you'll take another 2 classes for a total of a 12 hr semester. I would recommend to anyone whether you live in Texas or Montana.

There is so much turn over in this school. My guidance counselor changes 4 times, financial aid person 3 times, I've had 4 Dean's., 4 success coaches.... In two years. They are like car salesman. They do and say any thing to get you in the door and then you can't even get a return call. My veteran benefit was screwed up so bad because of incompetents and so was my financial aid. When first entering Temple, I was beyond excited, I was in a new place starting a new chapter in my life and doing it independently, literally. My whole family was either back on the west coast (where I am from) or still in Nigeria. Temple was enticing, intriguing, cool. As freshman year went on I made friends, frenemies and sadly enemies but such is life. I was still excited to live here, not so much to live in the dorm and be forced to have a meal plan, where the closest dining hall was slightly... Read More atrocious, but I made do. Towards the end of freshman year I found myself disliking everything, maybe because I was homesick but highly unlikely, the area we live in is definitely not ideal but there are safe places and temple does try to make it safer. Besides that I found the irritation of the outside factors, environment and some local people, making me dislike everything about Temple, the classes, the people and especially the food. Over summer break I didn't want to go back, I did a semester abroad at Temple Japan, a super plus about Temple the different campuses around the world and the partnerships with other study abroad programs, and when I came back I had a new outlook towards Temple. I am slightly more involved on campus, I live off-campus, grocery shop, and made my schedule tailored to my needs. Temple, like much other schools the financial aid office is a laugh short of a joke, and dealing with them freshman year was laughable. I was kept on hold over the phone, waited over 1 hour in office when there were many students and maybe 4 windows out of 10 or more open. Temple overall is an amazing school with amazing people, and much like other amazing schools there are always parts that are everything but amazing. With the new renovations and look coming to Temple I would definitely recommend people to come, great atmosphere, some great people, great classes and professors and definitely a worthwhile degree. It took me a while but I came to truly love Temple, as a whole and I would change one thing!

Stetson University seemed like an amazing school at first; beautiful campus, nice teachers, lots of organizations but I learned differently within my first few months of attending. Stetson is a private school and most reading materials are overpriced due to the fact that are written by Stetson professors. This also means that hardly any credits would transfer over if you were to leave the school. The prices of tuition goes up by around 5% every year, leaving many people poor as well. It is as if... Read More Stetson is not even a college, it is a business. Students pay for everything, even the things they neither want nor need such as the Hatter Life Fee which goes into a group called Hatter Productions that is supposed to entertain the Students. Most of this money is spent on events that at most 100 students attend even though it is a school with 4,000 students. There are other things that are expensive as well, such as meal plans. One meal plan went from $1,010 last year to almost $1,700 this year even though the food is still the same and the meal plan works in the same way. Another thing that would deter me from Stetson is the racism that occurs on campus. A lot of non-Caucasian students deal with it on a daily basis even from teachers yet because of the fact that Stetson does not have an anti-bullying policy nothing ever happens to the perpetrators of these acts. Once my friend had raw eggs thrown at him while walking back to his dorm after a class. Stetson says it is working on being more diverse yet it recently cut the budget for the diversity program by nearly 80%, giving most of that money to the Homecoming committee even though most upperclassmen never attend the events held within that week. There are some good things about Stetson though, such as that a lot of the professors work with you and are willing to help you. Some professors even see themselves as being on equal footing with the students and allow their students to call them by their first name. Stetson is also a place where connections can be made, due to the diversity program at Stetson called the Multicultural Student Council, everyone is welcome and helped within the walls of that building. Stetson has some good qualities but if I had known about its shortcomings I probably never would have attended.

I attended a junior college and received an AS in math and science. I transferred to Cal State San Bernardino which was a nightmare. Constant holds for reasons they could not figure out. Registration was a mess. I never got the classes I needed. I got tired and transferred to Brandman. The classes are smaller and professors are much better. Other institutions have professors with very little to no real world experience. The majority of my professors at Brandman had decades of experience. When I graduated... Read More I got a job within the first week making more money than I ever had. I am hoping to go back to Brandman for a MBA in the near future.
