This college screwed me big time. I've been working on getting my financial aid awarded for over 5 Months and so far all they do is ask for the exact same information in a different format. It is absolutely ridiculous. Now that I have my transcripts and my diploma has been mailed out my honest review of Capella University is going to be 2.5 stars out of 5. The reason for this being that they failed to take great care in explaining the differences between class formats as well as the academic and financial impacts of both. I was kicked out of classes multiple times due to their failure to explain billing sessions is fine detail. This process was explained in general terms and rushed. In addition, the school fails... Read More to provide a host of learning modalities such as video, interactive, group, java etc for those who are visual/audio learners as opposed to just reading/writing text which is largely the basis since it is a research based design. Knowing that a new subject is not imbedded into the mind until it has been seen, heard, written and recited it is curious then as to why these methodologies werent utilized to their full extent especially for online learners to ensure the content is grasped. Many times I felt that the redundancy of the curriculum caused me bordem and that flexpath could use some definite improvements in the syllabus. Perhaps their regular online format is much different but this pertains to flexpath learning. These factors caused me to be removed from eligibility to graduate with honors including summa cum laude, the highest honor, which I recently found out is awarded to all eligible students OTHER THAN flexpath format students. In the long run it may not determine desirability in professional aspects however it was a goal I kept in mind and I wanted badly. I feel I have been cheated out of that honor even though I meet all requirements other than my chosen class format and finished with a 3.93 GPA. I should be recognised for that accomplishment despite format. I had some great and challenging teachers who pushed me more than I ever thought possible but because of this failure in communication and the negative repercussions on my goals, I will not be attending the school again.

This was once a great program. But over the years, it's fallen apart. They've switched entirely to ebooks, but they charge the same tuition. Have a grade dispute? You'll either get one of two things: No response at all, or a response that is either ridiculous or poorly reasoned. Take for instance one situation where an exam asked a question that was not found anywhere in the study material. The reviewer actually acknowledged that the question was not found in the materials that we have to study,... Read More but that it should be "obvious" what the answer is. Nope, sorry, but when the test asks a question about a very specific scientific study that was never covered in the materials, it's not "obvious", the question is improper and shouldn't be on the exam. You don't test students on things they weren't taught. Period, end of story. Don't get me started on how papers are graded. The Professors they hire tend to have impressive credentials, but I question the GPAs they achieved to get those degrees because almost every one of them seems to have very wrong ideas about APA format and none of it is consistent as the rules change with each Professor. The school also seems to think that a rubric alone is sufficient to grade papers when anyone who has at least graduated from junior high school knows that in order for grading to be effective there must be specifics. If you tell a student "You have issues with punctuation" but you then fail to show where those issues are exactly in the paper, clearly the student cannot correct them. The fact that such a basic understanding has to be explained to them is maddening and they do not understand the problem at all. This may be the only school on earth where you don't actually get to see your graded papers, you simply get back generalizations of issues, and many times even those aren't correct. I would say, if you don't give a damn about your grades or improving on papers you've written since the feedback is so laughably poor, then Ashworth College will work fine for you. You will learn plenty from the courses as the course structures are as good as can be for an independent study program. But from the Professors and administrators you will learn absolutely nothing other than the fact that they either operate on apathy or ignorance or both.

I really really love this school and this program! I have been through two different degree programs prior to coming to SNHU but nothing seem to fit MY schedule as well as support my finance needs, until I came here. I must admit, you will have some sleepless nights and weekends but communication with professors make it easier to complete class assignments. For the most part I am glad that I did attend Argosy University only because getting my undergraduate degree was needed for me to pursue my goal in social work, but like the other reviews the educators and counselors acted as if they were interested in my education only for financial gain. This school was more interested in my tuition fees then me. My problem was when I didn't see eye to eye with an instructor and I requested counseling with the Dean of psychology, they refuse to help me. The Dean... I made multiple calls for help but was never replied to, only person who replied to me was a volunteer personnel in the student service center department who act in the behalf of the Dean. I couldn't believe how this school function so poorly as a "so called University". This is one of the worst schools in the Universe. Now I am hearing that this school has closed down several of there campuses, what's going to happened to the current students? This was my fear when I was attending this school. It took me 3 1/2 years to complete my program, I had a couple of breaks in between from health issues but I am glad that I already graduated. I do not have to deal with this educational institution anymore. If you are a student that is looking to get a degree, do yourself a favor and attend another college, especially since more traditional schools have opened up their online programs to make it very easy for students like you and I to applied and get accepted fairly easy. Try a traditional school you will save money and time!

Ashford University is a great school. I went there for 4 1/2 years and received a dual degree in Psychology and Early childhood development. If I could do it all over again, I would because this was a great achievement for me. I would tell others about this school. Especially if they have a family to take care of. It is perfect, because you can work around your families schedule. Meaning, you can choose day or night to do your homework and even interact with your instructor as well as your classmates.... For starters, I am upset to see how many people had negative comments about this school. While I have been enrolled at Ashford since June, 2012 I have had nothing but great experiences. I read a comment in which someone noted that the scheduling is done by a computer, I did not know this. When I have a question or when I chose to add minors, I let my advisor know and he scheduled them right away. As for the financial aid people, whenever I need their assistance I email them, and they seriously call... Read More me within that same day and email me in case I miss their call. The student portal is so easy and useful in keeping track of everything, not to mention that the instructors are amazing. Some even offer their phone number so we can call them for assistance since they cannot be glued to the computer and respond to emails as quick as they would like. I am very sorry for those who received some type of negative experience because I am sure that that is what kept them form really appreciating the education they received. I love Ashford and will probably be signing up to the Masters program. Oh and lets not forget that this is a school designed to let you work as you can as long as you meet deadlines. Having three little girls, I enjoy and appreciate the time I have to raise them all while still getting my education.

Penn State is an excellent university. I was able to maintain my military life style and continue my education. Professors are rigorous yet extremely engaging and willing to help. This is definitely not a university for those seeking an easy degree. There are plenty of opportunities to interact with the faculty and other students. I was able to work in two different research labs and improved tremendously my skills and network. If you are willing to put in the work this is definitely an university... Read More to be proud of.

Starting over with a new career and going back to school to advance in the career has been as wonderful as it has been daunting. The fourth great experience is the financial aid office. Every one of them is knowledgeable, helpful, and full of great suggestions when I have thrown a unique situation on them. Finally, although the work is hard, it is not unreasonably difficult and the workload is manageable. I also want to mention that Liberty University has a great program for military persons and they will work with you regarding you TA (tuition assistance) or the GI Bill; my daughter is now taking advantage of this. Interestingly, even though I am not resident student, I would say that my college experience this time around is much better and more memorable that the first time. I not only recommend studying online, I recommend attending Liberty University to achieve your academic goals.
