Student Reviews of Online Religious Studies Programs
The educational demands are rigorous. However, professors are very approachable and amenable to modifications in order to improve learning. The classes involve on-line access to materials, independent reading through supplemental texts, lectures using power point or movie formats, and discussion posts. You definitely get your money's worth!

Fuller Theological Seminary is an outstanding institution full of incredible people. The Master of Divinity program prepares students for vocational ministry and allows them to grow deeper into their faith and calling. This is the degree program for individuals who feel called to ministry and want to gain the knowledge and experience they need to be fully equipped to serve in the local church.

I am currently a student at The King's University. The Messianic Jewish studies program is probably the finest right now in the United States. While I was not searching for another theology degree this program has proved to be excellent in every way.

The most progressive divinity school in existence. They have a strong active curricular dedication to social justice and climate change, and offer a plethora of different religious and ideological insights. I recommend this school to anyone interested in pursuing a career in divinity or social justice.

The Pro is the program has a lot of reputable scholars teaching in their various fields, which in turn provides the students with a great wealth of knowledge in that field. One con is that the surrounding part of Steubenville is not a friendly area, and is in need of a lot of evangelization.

Fordham University encourages its students to tap into the inner-strength that already lies within them. The instructors are caring individuals that genuinely care about their students. I attend strictly online courses, but still feel a sense of togetherness when engaged with other students. The financial services and administrative departments at Fordham are reliable, easily accessible, and helpful. I am a better person and student for choosing Fordham University.

A wonderful challenging experience that pushed me beyond my depths to become a flourishing captained counselor that can reach the masses. It is amazing that the instructors were there praying for you and also willing to help maximize your time and efforts in achieving your goals.

MWBTS has been a great option for me to continue my education while not having to move my family. The online master's program has been a great challenge in the variety of classes, the instruction from the professors, and the other students. I have found that the classes offer what I need to help me further my career.

Just about there and I couldn't be happier. As a late bloomer, engaging in Graduate studies started out as a real challenge. In the 20+ years since graduating with my Bachelor's Degree (in Civil Engineering) so much has changed. Liberty's academic advisers, and professors alike, have been incredibly helpful over the past year. Liberty's library is second to none. Although I've only used the library online for academic research, if there is a needed resource not available through Liberty the staff... Read More

Regarding the graduate program, let me address the cons first. Due to being exclusively online for me, it does make it difficult if there is a system server issue that is slow is being resolved. Also, class interaction is limited (which is to be expected with an online program). The pros I have seen is the ability to pursue and complete the program of study at a pace that does not conflict with other life areas such as family, church, and work. Most of the class work is doable and the completion... Read More

PROS// I did the InMinistry program. It's one of the few accredited M.Div degree that allowed me to have a degree I'm proud of, that's academically reputable, and not move my family from where we live. Summer and winter classes are completely distance/online. Fall and spring classes are (I believe) 13 weeks, one of those weeks being on-campus lecture in Minneapolis. Professors push you. I didn't want to go to a seminary where they would teach me everything I already learned at my Biblical Studies... Read More

The program I am taking super accessible (online). The professors are caring + attentive + are interested in you succeeding. It's a good online program, but the cons are the same as any online program - not in person, social down, etc. However, the professors do work to make it as appealing + interesting as possible!

The Master of Divinity (M.Div) is a comprehensive master of theology program through Liberty Baptist Theology Seminary, a surrogate of Liberty University. The program is extremely top notch, with Liberty's commitment to superior excellence in all things academic. The pros of my program is that, namely, this is offered completely online as well as residential. Although I was looking into a couple other schools to get my M.Div, viz., Dallas Theological and Trinity Evangelical, Liberty was the only... Read More

I attended Liberty online for 13 months while pursuing a Masters degree. I first attended University in the 1970' and 1980's when I received a BA English and an MBA from the University of Texas and the University of North Texas. What I found at Liberty was a significant difference in teaching methodology, which one would expect after nearly 40 years. With online courses, the impetus is on the student to independently complete the reading and the assigned papers and other homework - and, there is... Read More

I'll get to the point of the positives and spend my time addressing the common negative sentiments raised in more depth. First off - I’m graduating in May. I have had a tremendous experience from start to finish. I plan to continue my education, beyond the MA level, and the only reason that I would leave is because I do believe there is value in obtaining degrees from varying institutions. However, my experience has been SO positive I am re-thinking that. Professors - Some have slammed them for poor... Read More

I have attended Liberty university both on line and on campus for the past three and a half years. It is highly valued as it [provides a well balanced education, a diverse student body, reaches and trains students from all over the world and impacts our world for a bright future. It is the largest Christian University and the training available is limitless. I am proud to be both an graduate from the Master of Divinity program and a student in the doctorate program presently. The Master's programs at Moody Theological Seminary are wonderful preparation for Christian ministry and the mission field. The education is excellent and the doctrine is quite sound. One con of the program, specifically the online classes via Distance Learning, is that it seems more difficult to learn (at least for me) since you are not in a standard classroom setting with a hands-on opportunity.

Undoubtedly, the diversity of the adjunct and local staff professors is one of the greatest and most challenging aspects of GCU. Each professor, hailing from different educational background, as well as from different parts of the country, often, makes for a constant change in the learning environment and in the educational level of each course. This assures the student a high level of education and preparedness for real-world, occupational successes. I truly appreciate the heart of each of the professors,... Read More
