I really loved the fact that I could complete all my graduate courses online. I'm a single mother and I work full time. Taking classes on campus would have been tremendously hard for me. Ball State offers a program that fits mine and my sons needs. I'm able to apply things I learn from class right into my classroom at work.

A major pro of this program was that it was 100% online. I was able to keep my full time job while going to school. One con about this, however, is that it is a little bit more difficult to keep in contact with professors and classmates. The work load was excellent for a Master degree. Not too much that it made it too difficult, but not too little to not be credible. I loved my experience at Ball State University.

One advantage of the BSU online programs is the classes are all online, but there are practicums that allow you to go into the community and gain experience while also gaining credits. One disadvantage of BSU online programs is the communication level. If an email is sent to a professor, there is a waiting period until they respond. This can range from several hours to several days. There is not the typical opportunity to just go to a professor's office to speak to them.

I take online chases toward my M.A. One of my classes does not have any recorded or live lecture. Exams are based solely on the reading without any teaching of the material. I am extremely disappointed with this course. I paid to be taught not to be told what to read to teach myself. My other class has a lot more resources. The text is easier to understand and it utilizes modules, recorded lectures, and other videos. It is much more effective at teaching the material. Overall my experience with the... Read More

I received a great education through Ball State for my Master's degree. I am using my degree to further my understanding of special education, specifically in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis with an emphasis on Autism. I am pleased with the education I have received, and the online format worked well with my busy lifestyle.

The pros of my graduate program is the ability to take the entire program online. This allows me to keep my full time job as a teacher and work on the graduate courses when I am home from work. I do not have to worry about trying to rush to a campus to get to class.

The pros of my graduate program are that it is offered online. I am an out of state student that works a full time job and would never have the opportunity to go back to school if it weren't offered online. The cons are the availability of things. If I can't contact my instructor for some reason, it is really hard to find another person to contact to answer questions.

I love the online graduate program because it allows me to get my work done while working full time as a teacher. My teachers are always available to answer questions via email and skype. I often hear back with answers to my questions within a few hours. The work load is a lot of reading and the tests are often hard. However, the instructors are pretty good with grading essays and work so it all weighs out. All around excellent Education program.

The pros are that the coursework is all online, so lectures and materials can be viewed and referenced at one's own pace. Another pro is that the coursework is directly relevant and applicable to my work (i.e., my paid job). A con is that some instructors are not as responsive to emails- which is a bit of a drawback when it comes to online courses.

All of my courses have been online so I have no experience with the area. I can say, that compared to other online classes I have taken, it seems the faculty is much less involved in these courses. You watch pre-recorded videos and post messages on message boards if you have questions. In other universities there would be "meeting" times and facilitated discussions. Overall, I have enjoyed my courses but as the program I am in requires you to sit for national boards at the end, I suppose that will... Read More

Even though I am several states away, I have had no trouble contacting and getting a response from anyone if I have had a question or a problem. I do hate, though, that I cannot go talk to someone face-to-face. A pro is that I can work a full-time job and still be able to complete the program of my choice.
