Capella University is very misleading when it comes to finances. I enrolled in the FlexPath pending FAFSA completion. However, due to taxes, I could not complete FAFSA in time. My advisor said it was no big deal, I would be dropped from my classes and could apply again once my FAFSA was complete. Imagine my surprise when I received a bill for thousands of dollars, and for a class I did not participate in! They still turned me over to collections and hurt my credit for services never received. I would never recommend this university.

I signed up with Capella at the beginning of 2020 for one class just as I lost my job to Covid. Got ahold of the advisor and she said I would be able to drop the class with no strings attached because of the change in circumstance and since I didn't actually do anything in the class yet. Took a bit to get in touch with the person who can cancel classes, but he said he didn't know how finances worked and that if she said it it was probably true. Read More out 30+ emails and get one response telling me to send an explanation to an email address I had sent 15+ emails to with no response. phone calls go nowhere because they tell me to email this dead email address. Now I got a phone call from a collection agency saying I owe even more. This school might give out legit degrees, but making sure there is no way to back out isn't legit in the slightest. Definitely felt like I got scammed. Now even the collection agency is telling me to email this dead email. Don't waste your money going here.

I chose Capella based of the recommendations of two friends, one who had received their Masters from Capella & another friend who was currently in the Masters program. First of all, online course work doesn’t mean easy! You have to put in the time & effort to achieve ANYTHING in life. Capella is all about accountability & helping you succeed! All of my instructors had advanced degrees and was very knowledgeable in the subject they taught. Per Capella’s rules, all instructors must grade assignments within 48 hours of submission! I only had one instructor who was late grading my assignments! Along with instructors, each FlexPath course had a tutor, who also had an advanced degree! I had a family emergency & had to leave school for a period of time. Capella was understanding & when I returned, it was just like I never left!! Even during the midst of COVID & the George Floyd situation in the city, Capella staff continue to check on the well being of their students! I graduated June 2020 with a 3.67 GPA (calculated by academic advisor), all while working 45-50/hrs a week! I’m proud to stay I went to Capella & HIGHLY recommend the school to anyone looking for a meaningful education experience!!!

I applied to Capella right before the pandemic and shut downs, my first class started in that April. My organization I worked for was greatly impacted by the pandemic and I received news I had to move me and my child to another state to keep my job at another facility. Capella was so unsupportive. I was trying to get out of a lease, organize a move and everything was shut down, in addition to leaving family behind. I asked if I could change my start date but he said it was after the drop date and there was nothing I could do. Simultaneously I was receiving emails from Capella stating how they were helping students that were effected by the pandemic. Not in the least. I wrote multiple emails to the administration, and left 2 voice messages on a line they never answered. I never got one call back. I now have the bill for the entire first quarter even though I had to just drop out of the class. My coach would be typing as I was talking and hardly hearing or listening while I was in this situation. It was horrible.

Capella University refuses to help struggling students by denying options for aid. I lost my job due to COVID, therefore, I lost tuition assistance from my employer. Capella University sends out communication that says they are helping students by suspending billing. I applied for Financial aid from Department of Education and was awaiting my award. Capella dropped me from classes in November because of $2k past due balance (but billing suspended). In December my financial aid was approved. Capella... Read More University sent me an award that would have covered my past due balance so I could continue my education. I went online and signed the awards. The next day I get a notice showing there was no signature, the past due balance will not be included in the award, and the award is significantly lower. After speaking to a financial aid staff member, I was told that because I was not enrolled during the financial final decision, I cannot be given financial aid for the previous balance (I was enrolled continuously until I was dropped by the school in November). The school refuses to do anything to help. At this point I'll have to drop out of school with only a few months left before graduating.

I don't understand the complaints from all these reviews. I entered the FlexPath program for my bachelors with my AA from a local state college. In only 5 months I completed my degree. If you have no real work experience in your field of study you may struggle...if you are not motivated to work quickly and complete assignments you will struggle....if you are unable to write papers and complete lengthy research assignments at times, you are not in the right program. If you work in a business office setting this program is very helpful. It takes a lot of motivation and dedication, you can't expect stellar results for mediocre effort!

Worst school to deal with. I started school here and had to figure everything out on my own. After a semester, my wife lost her job and we moved states. I didn't attend for a year. When we settled, i started back up, but was forced to reenroll. I was then told that since I was still paying off my tuition from prior semester, I cant register for classes until late September (wasting whole summer semester). Due to timing, i enrolled at a different college to be able to continue with school faster.... Read More They are not refusing to release my transcript to my new school due to the same reason. I even offered to roll the remaining balance into my student loan, and they refused that too. Have been completely unwilling to even listen to my requests. Will definitely not be continuing my education here!

The whole process is completely streamlined. From beginning to end, all expectations, requirements, and tools needed to complete course are provided. The FlexPath learning platform requires you to have a very motivated and overachieving approach to the completion of course assessments to make the best use of it. Read More in about 18 months, which cost me around $16,000. I definitely have to be pleased with the overall cost, considering I paid double for my Associate's program at another school. I don't like how with the FlexPath program you are not able to get recognition for outstanding performance (Summa Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, etc.), as there are no letter grades or G.P.A. however, it is all about what you get out of the program in the end. Overall, I can say it was a great experience, I learned a lot, and I can say the program will definitely impact my professional future in a positive way.

It took me 6 year to complete my B.S Business Administration. My whole Capella experience was amazing. I can only speak of my own experience however the class rooms, staff, administrators, class mates were amazing. It took me 6 years because I worked long hours but committed almost every night to complete my degree. Outstanding experience! I completed the flex path program at Capella achieving a bachelors in business administration. If you are accountable and motivated to further advance your academic studies this is the right choice for you. There is no hand holding - you are responsible for completing the coursework and following the academic policies. If you are smart and determined ignore these crazy reviewers. I am in the flexpath program and am leaving a review because it seems most of the reviewers here either were pathetic in there attempts at higher education or simply lying. My fafsa pays for 2/3 of the cost. I started last February with less than 20 credits and will be done by this summer with 160 credits. Flexpath allows you to take 2 courses at a time although I'm usually only in one. I use the second slot as an option from time to time.... Read More I have had zero trouble with anyone within the advising community. If you feel like you will need a tutor than don't pick this school because it is the one area that they are legitimately terrible. I am in numerous facebook communities that all testify to how much the appreciate the school, minus the tutors. I will have spent less than 10k in the end and already have job opportunities that will make up the difference in no time. Of course you will be frustrated but treat your education like its a 9-5 and this university can take you from 28 year old with no skills to your entry into a career field in less than 2 years.. I just wanted to say that because I appreciate what the school has done for my life.

Capella University is simply amazing! When I first began this journey in January 2017 I had no idea what I would experience. Being in a professional senior level management job means I have a lot of pressure during my daily activities and I had no idea how I would balance my family, career and college all while my wife was completing a doctorate. Paying just one fee for a 12 week cycle and being able to complete as many classes as I could in that time really helped me get to the finish line much quicker than I ever imagined. Every night when my family went to bed I went into the basement and would work until I could not stay up any longer and just cranked out the papers. This was a daunting task but I finished in literally no time at all! The instructors were quick to grade the papers and very often with just one attempt I would exceed the expectations and would be ready to move on to the next assessment. The navigation of courses was so easy as the plan would show me the upcoming classes and would allow me to make changes as needed. I don't know why anyone would go anywhere else for college!! Capella University is simply the all around best experience from all the supportive staff to the flexibility and ease of navigation this school has it all. I really cannot wait to begin my MBA program through Capella in less that a month!

Capella University Guided path was just what I needed. I was 45 years of age when I decided to go back and get a degree and with a busy full time job and full time parenting, I was a little worried on how I could get a degree during everything else. The school advisors walked me through the first year of how to set up courses and determined what was best for me to teach me how to plan out my future success. It was a huge help. In the summer and fall quarter of 2014 i went to capella and taken a couple of course a passed them with A's and B's, after that quarter had ended i had to leave due to family emergency which was something serious, ok i comes back november 21, 2017, which i supposed to started november 7, 2018, but call my academic advisor a week before that start date and explained the reason i can't start on that date and it will be better for me to start on the next date available she said that it will be fine... Read More and wont go against me because i made them aware a week before time so i start a couple weeks later that month with no problems financial aid coming in with no problems or anything. ok in march i decided that the degree i was taking up at the time wasn't for me and had a lot of changes where you need to go maybe 4 more years in school so i changed over to another that i was interested, but my advisor told me that i had to wait 2 weeks to start school because they have to get my program changed over which didnt click right there because they could have just put me in class that was open that is required of that program ok i started my first class in that program i changed over to and maybe a month later i seen on my account summary that i owed $2,290 for what they stated that i took breaks and on november 7 2017 when i supposed to start i didnt i explain to the buiness office that i spoke with my advisor way before my classes suppose to start and she said i will be fine and register me for the next session start date and also made them aware that it wasnt my fought that they set me out to wait until they do my degree change when they could have put me in class that they see open that will go towards that degree change but they didn't want to hear that i kept going back and forth with theses people at this school i spoke with my advisor a couple of times and she also stated that she does not see where they talking about i took breaks and she tried reaching out to the business office but they was not hear that so now i'm trying to see what i need to do to get this balance cleared up because i feel i'm not responsible for that they are trying bet me out some money this school is horrible and sad

I was enrolled in the FlexPath Program at Capella and it was the best decision I have ever made in my life. This program allows you to have almost all the control over the pace you complete the courses. Needed to finish my undergrad and wouldnt have been admitted to traditional programs due to poor academics from the inital college experience. Employer also offered discounts for Capella so applied and was accepted. For those that are in the same situation and need a BA/BS, schools like Capella are the only viable option even if they arent seen as real schools. Courses are what you make of them. In courses where we shared assignments, I was a bit aghast by how poorly written assignments were yet assumed they were graded well regardless. Had one extremely poor instructor and luckily dropped their course. For the most part their instructors seem to be engaged with teaching but like everything, there can be a bad apple in the bunch. The only real negative I can think of is that the school does not take plagiarism seriously. Small infractions are not seen as an issue so someone plagiarizing a paragraph from another students paper isnt going to turn heads.
