My professors have been amazing, with the exception of one who got my advisor to try to talk me into withdrawing after my son was in ICU. I asked for a couple of one—to two-day extensions because I was dealing with trauma, and assignments were due the day my son came home. I love the curriculum, which... Read More encourages critical thinking and creativity. The financial aid department is severely lacking in communication and people skills. They are rude, condescending, and dehumanizing and blame students for their mistakes. Also, Excelsior does not give students access to Microsoft Office, a .edu email address, or access to unofficial transcripts, which are all pretty basic things offered by nearly all other schools.

I can't speak for anyone else but I have to say Excelsior College saved my life! First off, I previously attended another school where I was close to graduating but ran out of federal aid due to my parents taking my refund checks and cosigning money to use for their own expenses. So as I approached my senior year at my former school I was stuck with 117 credits and a huge balance to pay off. Two years later I applied to Excelsior in 2016 and they accepted 110 out of 117 credits so I wouldn't lose... Read More my senior standing! As for the professors, they were very flexible and understanding and provided me with great feedback. I did not feel pressured to finish my degree in a certain time limit nor did Excelsior scammed me out of my money since I had to pay out of pocket. Whenever I had a concern, I was able to speak directly to whoever was in charge in student affairs, financial aid etc. My academic advisor helped me every step of the way. I was on a reasonable payment plan and was able to take my classes one Excelsior is a fully accredited college and although I've heard negative reviews about the nursing program I can say that the psych program for a B.A. is very good. This is not a diploma mill school and definitely not a for profit school.

I was shocked at the number of negative reviews. I started attending Excelsior in 2008 for a degree in nursing. I completed all of my classes and unfortunately was unable to continue working as a nurse. The advisors were fantastic. I was able to switch to Liberal Arts and obtain my BS in psychology in 16 months. The instructors and advisors were always there to answer any questions I had. I enjoyed this school. The only problem I have is I have to find another school to get my Masters in psychology... Read More as Excelsior does not offer it. If they did I would sign up in a heartbeat!

Excellent school. Not sure about nursing, but from my experience with Excelsior and as a military service member, I will recommend to other military and civilians. I truly enjoy my time of learning and came out well prepared. If you're committed and invest the time to learn, you would learn the same as in a traditional institution. The classes are challenging and demanding and given by a well prepared faculty. Some been from very prestigious universities and many are graduates with specific fields... Read More backgrounds that will enhanced your learning for federal and local government law enforcement agencies if that's your main focus. I only have positive things to say; I guess it will come down to each individual and how much they get from what they invest.
