I am currently enrolled in the school counseling masers degree program at Lamar University. The program is fully online and very convenient. Each course in the 48 hour program lasts for five weeks. So the student has classes for five weeks and then a one week break before beginning the next course. The material covered is very relevant to school counseling. The main pro that I like about my program is the speed at which the programs is going. I will be finished in 18 months with my Masters Degree of School Counseling. I also like that I am able to take one class at a time and focus on just that one. The price for the course if very reasonable compared to my online bachelor's degree course. The cons are some of the pros. By having online courses that are accelerated, there is a lot of work, reading, projects, assignments, etc. all the time. It is hard... Read More

My career as an international teacher takes me around the world, so being able to get my graduate degree while traveling was a complete blessing. Lamar is well known throughout Texas for its outstanding programs in teacher education. Ratings about social life don't exactly apply because I am an online student, but I am continually receiving notifications of fun student activities on campus (I wish I was there to join in!). I love the fact that I can get my master's degree completely online while continuing to work on my career. I only wish that there were more scholarships available to graduate students.
