There is a myriad of choices for students in terms of choosing a college or university. Some universities and colleges are Christian in nature. However, not all manage to adequately exemplify their Christian beliefs and values to their students who are their consumers. Read More of the professors at the graduate level are adjuncts and do not seem to have time to communicate with students and therefore they may refer you elsewhere for assistance. Communication is needed at all levels of education. Academic advising needs to be more personal to give the student reassurance and guidance. The tuition may be cheap in comparison to other universities, however, the need for more feedback and interactions among classmates is needed. Besides mix and mingling in professional settings, networking in education settings is important. The support services within the institution need to be more direct and professional to encourage retention.

I recently graduated with my doctorate in education in curriculum and instruction. First, I am a female minority and not religious. Although this institution has its notorious controversies, I owe it to the faculty to write this review. I was extremely apprehensive about attending Liberty due to its views, but I want to remind you that I am a woman of color navigating a system that was not intended for me and I don’t have the same choices of schools at the doctoral level that others have. Although Liberty required scripture in a majority of the assignments, I approached those assignments as a researcher and got a refresher on the Bible. The faculty is fantastic! They were patient and gave me grace when I asked for it. I graduated from this institution with my doctorate in two calendar years while working full-time. It can be done, but I had to practice an insane amount of self-efficacy, self-motivation and self-discipline. I read reviews that the degree requirements may not be very rigorous. The capstone requires three data collection methods both quantitative and qualitative. Also, the research is not generalizable and focuses on a problem of practice. This was a blessing in disguise. From what I gathered, of original cohort of 13 candidates in the capstone courses, I was the only person to graduate in the university’s recommended timeline. I say this to illustrate how rigorous this program actually is. It’s a wonderful program if you are a very independent learner who does not need a great amount of assistance or direction. In the end, it was a great experience from start to finish!

I am currently completing my doctorate in Education with Liberty. I've attended 2 other large, highly touted universities and frankly I think that Liberty is as good or better than anything else I am aware of. My experience at every level of the process has been positive. I did not read the reviews prior to enrollment and now that I have I can't help but wonder where the fault lies; with the student or with the school. Everyone I've dealt with has been kind and helpful. Do they contact you for financial check-in, of course they do. Every university expects payment. I'm an online student, but I've visited the campus and absolutely love the vibe there. The students are happy, the staff is helpful and the campus is beautiful. I would absolutely recommend this school to anyone.

Most recently, I graduated with an Ed.S. from Liberty after being enrolled for three years in the Ed.S. program. Previously, I had enrolled in the master's program as a young teacher. I failed a few courses and eventually dropped out. When I returned to LU online (7 years later), I was placed on academic warning. The SOE at Liberty gave me a second chance. There are lengthy papers to write and then some courses, there are intense projects to complete. If you are dedicated and diligent you can do it. Nobody can do it for you, and you definitely should not rely on your professors. Online professors are moderators not teachers. They are there to guide your thought process and develop your critical thinking skills. Also, they will require you to follow APA requirements exactly. In conclusion, I received a great education from Liberty, and I am thankful for their graciousness in allowing me a second chance on my Ed.S. Eventually, I was able to earn a 3.8 GPA and my academic warning was dismissed. During my last class, the professor gave me an extension after my wife had a miscarriage.
