A family emergency along with hospital visits forced me to withdraw because I had ti take care of my parents. Emailed my professors, let them know what was up. They were all very understanding and I withdrew. I put in my withdrawal with my reasonings being immediate family emergency. It was 2020, going to the hospital started to be a common phenomenon. I was only 2 weeks into the course. Later on I got a call from the financial department saying that since I didn鈥檛 stay they sent back my financial aid. I owe them $5000. Why would I pay the price of the full course if I didn鈥檛 take the full course? A percentage is understandable but they told me I had to pay for the full course. Then the financial aid guy told me that was because I didn鈥檛 withdraw at the right time. I should just go back and register to get the financial aid back. So I registered for different courses. I was going to stick through the program just so I didn鈥檛 have to pay for a semester I barely started. I was actively looking for work because I lost my job due to Covid and the care act stopped, so I wasn鈥檛 getting anymore money, but wanted to try and finish while being preoccupied with taking care of parents and looking for work. When I looked at the course work for the graduate Psychology and Christianity course it looked familiar. I took that class residentially as an undergrad. I pulled up my old syllabus and compared it to the graduate on. It鈥檚 the same syllabus WORD FOR WORD with a different font. All the coursework is the same. Including all the papers. Liberty鈥�. You know better. Why am I taking a class I already took. The only difference was instead of 2 textbooks you apparently need 3. Which I didn鈥檛 even bother because if the assignments are the same (I even checked all the assignments rubrics and instructions and they are identical to the undergrad work) why would I need a 3rd textbook if I didn鈥檛 need it in undergrad. I even got points off during a test because they didn鈥檛 agree with my idea of 鈥渆volution.鈥� That was the final straw. I had to pay for the courses I withdrew. I had to take the same course with the same assignments. (And we all know you can resubmit assignments because it鈥檚 plagiarisms) and I鈥檓 getting points taken off because I didn鈥檛 disagree with evolution? I left during the withdraw time. Also Liberty University didn鈥檛 accept my reasonings for withdraw. They don鈥檛 accept any documents that aren鈥檛 professionally made with wet sign. I told them the financial aid person told me to reapply just to get my financial aid back and they said they can鈥檛 corroborate my claim because 鈥淟iberty university employees don鈥檛 count as third party.鈥� Oh so y鈥檃ll covering y鈥檃ll ***. I have the medical reason for leaving the first time, but they want a reason for why I reapply and when I tell them and show email documents all they say in response is 鈥渨e don鈥檛 accept that and you didn鈥檛 thoroughly explain the circumstances.鈥� So the committee can鈥檛 read?

BEWARE: Would have not even given 1 Star in many of these areas! Completed my Masters in CMHC and after my first year realized this school was going to be a disappointment. Advising should be trained for all programs OR each program should have their own advising. Class recommendations according to the degree plan was a pure pain. Liberty also allow their faculty to be emotionally and verbally abusive; given NO support even after its reported!!!!!! Their expectations for the students to remain professional... Run, run, run from this school. This is a horrible school. They just want your money. They could care a less about your goals, aspirations, needs, and so much more. I graduated from University of Michigan with a 3.7 GPA. At this school I got a D+, and when I tried to withdraw from the school they named off all of these consequences. Read More is ridiculous. Hundreds and hundreds of text due every week on top of 6 writing assignments. They told me I would spend about 10 hours a week on my classes, it was more like 40+ and not learning a damn thing. They don鈥檛 care if their school is a good fit for you, if you鈥檙e in the right program, they don鈥檛 ask about your goals. It鈥檚 just give me your money!! For a Christian University, they鈥檙e far from Christian. We鈥檒l pray for you, we鈥檒l probably at for you, just do your Financial Check in. They hounded me every single day for my money, and once they got it, I didn鈥檛 hear a word from them. DO NOT go to this university unless you鈥檙e a champion at dealing with intense stress. They will, without a doubt, stress you out. Find another school, any school but this one.

I would not recommend this University to anyone. I got my undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and this school has been a nightmare ever since they received my Financial Aid. Before they received my Financial Aid they were calling me multiple times a day, then after they received my money, they never bothered to return any of my calls. I asked for help from the Disabilities Department and they kept telling me that my therapist needed to sign the letter. She e-mailed it, faxed it,... Read More signed it multiple times and still, I got no help. As a grad student, you're on your own. Tons of reading and paper writing and no instruction. I was lucky and fortunate to have 1 awesome professor. If it weren't for her, I would've quit. She allowed me extra time without marking me down and did several Zooms with me and a personal phone call. Thank God for her. Otherwise, this school is a joke! They sure do want your money! After that, you don't really exist to them. I guess I just didn't do my research because I feel I could've chosen a much better online school. My friend who goes to Capella says she loves it, and is nothing like what I've gone through at Liberty. Besides, my awesome professor, this school sucks.

Overall my experience with Liberty was a good one. I attended entirely online. The classes are 8 weeks long %26 I found the coursework to be incredibly manageable. Some of the professors are significantly harder than others but all of my courses were designed equally %26 everything flowed nicely. Communication with all parts of the university were thorough and prompt. They also have a generous military discount, even for spouses. Liberty is by far the best college I have every attended. The staff is always friendly and willing to help no matter what your situation. The teachers are always available and there to help you with any question you may have. During my time as a graduate student i have had some personal situations arise like many people do and I was always able to contact my teacher and let them know of my situation and they were always willing to help out where needed so I could continue my college experience without... The instructors at Liberty are firm, fair and friendly; each person I had interaction with was always friendly and had a smile on their face. The instructors are available to help with course material and give guidance when needed. They are understanding when a student is struggling, whether it is with class work or life happening. I truly enjoyed all of my classes even statistics which is a class I struggled in, the instructor was very helpful. I enjoyed Liberty enough that I have decided to complete... I honestly do not have any cons toward Liberty University! I love this school because it shares the same Christian values that I have. It is a wonderful school and I am elated to have the opportunity to obtain an MA in professional counseling! The professors are very hands on and take the time to help you figure out the course material. Whenever I have a question, I email my professors and they make sure to contact me in a timely matter.
