I am not understanding all the negative comments.
If you are a hard working student, you will succeed in any program, and if you are not you will not anywhere!
I’ve been a Maryville student for almost 2 years and graduate next year. My instructors have been great, they are all responsive and caring. Super knowledgeable. The only thing I’d say I don’t like is that I do not have breaks at all until Christmas. It is super rigorous. But DOABLE. You are responsible for finding placement but guess what?... Read More

Dear fellow online students,
Please avoid Maryville University practitioner programs unless your area has available clinical programs. In my area, an instate university has a partnership with local hospitals, making it almost impossible to get clinical hours. Maryville wants me to travel 7 hours from my home to complete 250 hours of clinical experience a semester (multiple semesters). Maryville wants you to find your own clinical partnerships with zero upfront communication about this when the program... Read More

I attended Maryville University for a one year certificate program and was put in a compromise position as they did not have the courses available for me to complete the program which affect financial aid and has created a spiral effect in my life because I initially had a job when I started and would have been able to transition, but because I don’t have the certificate, I don’t have the opportunities I should have. They are not taking accountability and I have fallen on hard times in a financial... Read More

I've had a disappointing experience with Maryville University's nursing school. It feels like the focus is more on financial gain rather than providing the necessary support and resources for students. The professors don't seem to help students effectively; they often just read from powerpoint without offering any explanations or deeper understanding. This lack of engagement and support has made my educational journey more challenging than it should have been. I’ don’t recommend and will not go back... Read More

Avoid Maryville! The graduate program I attended at Maryville does not care about their students. They do not support them beyond basic aid in classes, otherwise you are on your on your own. The curriculum is minimally taught, and the tests poorly correspond with the lectures that are given. If you have any issues with your classes, the program admins will absolutely NOT help you, leading to repeated courses, delays, and failures that should not have been. They do not work with their students, even... Read More

The school is awful. They want the paycheck and thats it, they do not care about your success in anyway. The instructors do not need to be online instructors they are unreliable, tardy with grade returns, not resourceful. They treat you as if you are their for them.

Horrible communication, no organization. Once you pay they couldn’t care less about you. Might as well put your money in the garbage. Getting ahold of anyone is like playing a game of telephone no one knows what is going on. The instructors don’t teach a thing, and if you have a question, they rarely have an answer. Be prepared to wait a week to get ahold of someone for an urgent issue.

The reviews regarding the program/ degree are pretty much spot on-almost all say the same thing and are correct- something is real wrong - everything experienced was very unfair - to inquire and show proof from text specific to questions that were asked and no one listens or gives one credit - yet the text is required is one of the issues but what was previously said by other students over the years is 100 percent right- seem happy to fail everyone sad but true-their loss people move on

This is a very difficult program in that it is completely self-taught. You get very little feedback from instructors and definitely not in a timely manner. The tests are extremely difficult, proctored, and you must have 80% average on all tests to pass the class. The exams have a significant amount of material that was never covered in any of the lectures or extensive readings. The amount of work on a weekly basis felt more like it should for an 8 week course than a 16 week course. I did gradate... Read More

A big ripoff. Horrible school. Students using loans will accumulate debt very fast and no feedback like other students indicate. You are on your own to learn and pray you pass with the 80% average with is 70% of your grad on top of discussion, 2-3 page minimum papers to write and reading 3 chapters in addition to studying for you exam on 3-4 chapters every 4 weeks. Do not go to this school because all the work you do with homework does not get factored into your gpa until you have 80% or better on... Read More

So far, this school has been more of a headache and stress. I just started a summer 16-week pathology course and am expected to write weekly discussions and/or papers on top of reading and taking the four exams. You have to get an average of 80% on all exams to pass or you automatically fail. This school is not worth the time, money, and mental stress. I am fairly good with online learning and self-teaching, but I do not think it is appropriate to be requiring masters students, who usually are working... Read More

Please go elsewhere if you intend to school and work. This school is very difficult with bunch of proctored test. I am basically working one day a week (not meeting up with my bills) to be able to keep up with the bunch of assignments and proctored exams that comes with this school. School is not cheap either.

I liked Maryville University's post-master's nurse practitioner program. It is a self-taught program, and you must be smart and motivated to graduate. This is not an easy program. If you're not serious about learning and your education, this program is not for you. I also liked that they weed out the mediocre nurse practitioner students because prescribing medication is serious business. I will advise anyone out there currently shopping for school to go elsewhere. School is self thought, loads of materials and homework and they derive joy in seeing people fail. Proctored test and you must pass with 80% . There exams are hard and Many people fail. The school is not cheap either. If you want to school party with prospects of passing, please go elsewhere.

Totally self- taught and hours of weekly readings which cover an extremely wide subject matter. The first test only had 32 questions on it, and there are only 4 tests for the entire semester. If you don't have a 80% overall on the tests alone you automatically fail. There is so much material, and no specific direction on what to study for the test. Test reviews and learning objectives do not cover multiple questions that are even on the test, thus many students fail. Run. Go some where where you... Read More

Online nurse practitioner classes and clinicals are what you make it to be. You can be in the greatest school and find fault. This program is for the self motivated student to learn at a comfortable pace. It’s a lot of learning and you will learn if you want to.
