The online program worked really well for my schedule. I was able to work full time and pursue my degree in the evenings and on the weekends. Another perk of the online program meant I didn't have to move to continue my education.

SJSU's School of Information offers a lot of support to students from faculty and staff. Faculty are very approachable and willing to answer any questions asked to assist students. The online environment is great in terms of flexibility for students who work full time or have other personal obligations. Although professors in the program are wonderful, the online program does not have the same benefits of face-to-face interaction. Scheduling meetings with classmates and faculty can be a challenge... The ischool provides flexibility for the graduate student. However, there is little interaction with peers or professors. The classes are challenging but provide enough support to help you successfully complete them.

The pros of the program far outweigh the cons. It is convenient as it is completely online so students are able to work and attend classes when it is convenient for them. This frees up time and allows flexibility for internships and volunteer opportunities. There are so many online resources to help with school work, research, networking, job searching, advising, etc. Most responses to emails or phone calls are prompt and support is always available from faculty and staff. Some cons would include... Read More

Can do he MLIS all online. The teachers and staff are great to work with. Everyone so far has helped me out and been eager to show me what needs to be done.

As an online student, I feel I have access to multiple resources to assist me in my studies. I am able to speak to my professors and various university representatives and receive a quick and informative response. Rather than feeling disconnected from the school, the weekly updates from the school let me know what is happening around the campus and in my department. Overall, I give this university a high ranking.

The program is online, so I can talk to people anywhere who are in my program. however, I find the lack of a physical campus disconcerting.

I like the flexibility afforded my the strictly online MLIS program. A con is that SJSU requires 43 credits to graduate while other schools only require 36 credits.

The pro is certainly the convenience of the online format of the program that I can do anywhere at any time. The con is the lack of in-person interaction which makes creating connections difficult if all of the students you have in your class do not live in your area.

I wish that there were more opportunities for on campus classes, however, library information science courses almost all online now. It is a very difficult format to get used to. The staff are aware of this, however, and do their best to be available to everyone that needs a little extra help.

The MLIS online program at SJSU has very strong core classes and provides an excellent base for becoming a working librarian. Ideally, it would be nice if there were more classes that dealt with the realities of working in a library today; there is very little information given about actual library operations and the way that libraries are structured internally.

The Library & Information Science program is staffed with a lot of very knowledgeable professors. The information is well taught and interesting and the price is reasonable.
