I thought it was an excellent school for the price. My instructors were knowledgeable and good at teaching for the most part. My program set me up with 2 valuable internships that helped me be very marketable when I was on the job market after graduation.

MSW program at San Jose University is diverse with different classmates attending the program. I would recommend this program to anyone in Social Work but be prepared on how much time it will take. Its worth all the work and professors are supportive. If there is any concerns, professors try to accommodate as much as they can. Same goes for internships, if there are any issues, contact the school. They will be there to intervene but you need to speck up. You are not spending so much money on an MSW... Read More

The School of Social Work professors at San Jose State University were solid- most were either researchers or had practical experience in the field. They were knowledgeable and taught well. I participated in high quality internships that prepared me well for the jobs I took after graduation. I felt like the education that I got was a good value as tuition was much lower than at comparable schools.

San Jose State University's online Masters in Social Work program has and is allowing me to continue to work full time while also being able to further educate myself and hone my craft of delivering the best client care to the undeserved communities. If it wasn't for this program I would have to quit my job to go back to school. With that being said I did need to quit my second job due to the two internships I had to take on, now paying the full tuition is a tough. However I believe participating... Read More

There are many positive qualities of the Master's program of the social work department at San Jose State University. There is a great support of the professors and guidance towards being successful throughout the program. There is a consistent network development in which the student is always supported throughout their studies. Unfortunately, there have been many recent changes to the program, and we no longer have a cohort system. This has impacted the moral of the student body and collaboration.... Read More

Pros: The social work program is the best in northern CA and the wealth of experience from the professors is priceless. Cons: The night classes for part-time students do not always parallel with required internships which created unnecessary stress. The area is not always safe, parking can be difficult, and

San Jose State University is within a diverse community and fully embraces it. The SJSU MSW program is also highly connected to community, offering students numerous opportunities to develop themselves as social workers. The only con is that they discontinued the cohort system, leaving students without a support system as previous class years.

The Social work program at SJSU is great! The campus resources and community may be lacking because it's a commuter school.
