I am a graduate of the Southern New Hampshire University's online program. I was an online grad student there for 3 years studying history. I have read various comments from former teachers, staff, and students. I wanted to write a review for prospective students so that they would get a more even-handed review rather than a one-sided (negative) review from an individual who want to blame their inadequacy or lack of competency on the school or the professors. I can't speak for instructors or staff,... Read More but as a student, I can say that, overall, I had a great experience at SNHU. Most of the professors were helpful, knowledgeable, accessible, and fair. I only found one professor to be rude and unhelpful; however, I still passed that class as well. When situations arose that prevented me from getting my work in on time, I found that most professors were accommodating (as long as the work wasn't excessively late or inadequate). The two student advisers that I had were awesome. They were attentive and very helpful in every way they could - especially in getting what classes I needed and making sure I didn't overload myself with work (like I did in two other brick and mortar colleges that I attended previously). My only qualm about the school is that it doesn't seem to have a strong job resource center for students or alumni. But if a student or alumnus has a good resume, good grammar, has a good rudimentary knowledge of his or her discipline, and the right attitude, he or she should have no problem getting ahead and no need to blame the school or anyone else for "getting kicked out" of school, not getting the degree, or getting ahead.

I attended SNHU from July of 2014 to Apr of 2017 and completed an MA in American History. The professors for the most part were helpful and quick to get back with you, the advisers were pretty good to, my 1st adviser got promoted, he was awesome, my second one was ok just not as good as my first. I attended U of I Chicago and a community college and SNHU was as good if not better than the programs I had there. Throughout the program there were webinars done by many businesses and government agencies (such as the State the Department) that gave information about how to use your degree to pursue a career with them, very helpful.

Great 10 week online program. You typically have discussion posts Thursdays and Sundays are larger assignments. It is great to have a set structure, the same for every class. In addition, the professors can be very helpful. Your advisor is also very helpful; they will help you with any problems you are having and keep you on track with your program. Lastly, the program you study offers classes that are very specific to that career field. For Public History you would take specific classes in things... As online, many of these rating options did not apply. Safety, transportation, etc. do not apply to the online courses. Southern New Hampshire University has great faculty that is usually pretty accessible. Their online technology needs improvement due to frequent complications or outages. The work load is challenging and the classes are very educational. Being passionate about my major and enjoying creating research papers, have made these classes very enjoyable and intriguing.
