I got both my BA and MA from SNHU and had an amazing experience all the way around. My take on it is this: people need to determine what on-line learning environment works best for them, in addition to price shopping, time commitment, and of course, accreditation. I chose SNHU because I am an introvert whose day job takes all of my energy. I'm also a self-starter and very autonomous. I love to write and will write papers/create relevant projects all day long rather than take tests that don't prove... Read More anything to me in terms of my ability to transfer knowledge learned into practical application. I also like the feeling that I am making steady process, even when taking 1 class at a time because the courses are 8 weeks for UG and 10 for Grad. My employer provides tuition reimbursement, which SNHU will wait for, so for me--SNHU checked all my "must-haves,"--not just the online and cost considerations. Because I always turned my assignments in timely and received good grades, I spoke to my advisor three times or less per term: once at the beginning to ensure I had everything I needed; once mid-term to see how things were going; and sometimes, once near the end of term just to check in and see if he could be of help with anything. SNHU was VERY understanding when I had to postpone a term, which happened when my mom passed and again, during the height of Covid. My advisor rescheduled all of my courses for me to ensure I never got shut out of a class due to it being full. All of my adjuncts have been responsive; some were newer but very capable; others were tenured and I learned as much from them as from the course itself. I have subsequently connected with many of them on LinkedIn for networking purposes. Bottomline, SNHU does everything possible to set students up for success, but you have to do the work, including the time management. Students also may have a different interpretation of "being set up for success" and because of it, may expect more hand-holding or spoon-feeding, but this is a collegiate environment that is configured to set you up for success in your career; i.e.: no one will hand-hold or spoon-feed you in your career.

I looked into SNHU because they are a brick-and-mortar with a decent reputation, plus they are n affordable non-profit. That said - Do NOT bother to waste your time and money!!! The only good thing about this school is the academic advisors, that's it! Other than that, nothing is worth it. I've paid for outdated materials, broken links, and outdated books, all of which you don't know of until you're actually in your course, by then it's too late. Read More addressing my grievance, meanwhile, they take your money during their self-improvement process leaving you with a subpar education from professors who have no room to actually teach because the course is already pre-determined for them by student volunteers who have little to nothing to do with the actual course or major itself. Fabulous business model SNHU! Smh

After getting thumbs up after thumbs up, I decided to enroll for a class - and I'm so glad I did. My admissions counselor was with me every step of the way, from filling out the application to registering for my first class. From there, I was assigned an adviser who checks on me every so often, even if it's just to ask if I have questions. Having a person at the school who calls just to cheer me on has been one of my most positive experiences at Southern New Hampshire University. He is my go-to person any time I have any sort of question about absolutely anything, and I know I can count on him to give me a quick answer to essentially any question I have. He also ensures that I am registered for the appropriate class at the appropriate time. My teachers so far have also been wonderful. Although the classroom is online, the discussion board assignments help my classmates and me both learn together and network. Being able to "meet" so many blooming professionals from all over the world has been extremely rewarding. Getting to know about their jobs has opened my eyes up to all that is encompassed in the field of communications. By the end of some of the classes I have had, some of my classmates have felt like family to me just because of our interaction throughout the class - and that has helped make my experience at Southern New Hampshire University an extremely positive one. By far, however, my favorite aspect of Southern New Hampshire University is the timeline in which to get work done. I work full-time, so one of my major requirements for graduate school was flexibility. At Southern New Hampshire University, classes have set deadlines: discussion board posts are due every Thursday while all other assignments for the week are due Sunday. The new week starts on Monday. I have yet to be surprised by a random deadline, and I do not have to worry about keeping up with what is due when. I know going into each class that discussion boards are due one day, and everything else is due another day. That gives me peace of mind. Overall, my experience at Southern New Hampshire University has been positive. I would encourage anyone seeking a master's degree program to check out the university and see if it has a program that meets their needs.

If you are a busy person, if you have children, or a career, this school may not be for you. It is a lot of reading and writing, as I imagine all online schools are the same. This one has weekly deadlines. I've heard of some schools who don't have a weekly deadline. I think I've heard of some schools that give you the term to do all the assignments---this one is not one of them. I am a stay-at-home mother right now and struggle ( more than when I had a full time job) to get assignments and blackboard... Read More posts in on time. Now that children are out for the summer, doing school work has to wait until the end of the day. Most of the time I'm exhausted and end up falling asleep, then on Sunday I'm trying to turn assignments in on time. So, if you are a mother of small children, or someone with a hectic work schedule, try looking into other schools. I wish the recruiter would have been open and direct with me about this. I guess they're just trying to meet a quota .
