I finished my Masters of Science in Management in 2008 from the Dept. of Business and Technology there. In 2010 I enrolled for the Doctorate (EdD in Higher Education, Supervision, Curriculum and Instruction) while still employed full-time. This program is good for adult students who need flexibility. I attended about 1/2 of my classes by leaving work at 2:00 PM on a weekday and getting to Commerce in time for a 5:00 class. The rest of the classes were online. My professors have been very supportive.... Read More Even after I moved from Texas when I was almost through with the program, they have continued to support my efforts to finish the degree. I expect to finish by Summer, 2016.

I am currently enrolled in the Higher Education Leader Doctoral Program at TAMUC. Overall, the program is good. I am struggling with a course this semester, but it is to no fault of the instructor or the institution. I simply should have taken it face to face instead of online. I am 21 credits into my program and feel confident that I will receive the assistance I need as long as I continue to seek the resources (advising, etc). The program was clearly advertised by the outside recruiting agency as a 30 month program that would cost appx $30,000. I finished my EdD very much earlier than anyone in my cohort and it took me 36 months and over $50,000. So I think that was a bit misleading. I enjoyed the program and always got whatever support I needed to complete the necessary tasks. But the professors let me struggle just enough to get the desired learning out of the material. I have grown so much throughout the program and... Read More have made (what I hope are) lifelong friends and colleagues. The program was rigorous and academic with a good mix of theory and practice. I was always able to apply the coursework to my daily craft working with students and teachers.
