PROS 1. Most of the professors in the psychology masters and doctoral programs are great: knowledgeable, approachable, engaged, available, interested in their work & students. 2. The doc students are not happy about this as it impacts job applications and resumes. The faculty is in the process of trying to correct this, but the accrediting agency isn't making it easy. 2. Too many courses are offered online only, including the 5 required 'tools' courses (all stats and research methods). Most online courses provide little teaching or instruction (because the profs are assigned to teach too many classes), leaving students to teach themselves. Some of these require more (busy) work than necessary, though this is not uncommon with online courses. And there's a $50 per CREDIT fee for online courses. 3. There's not any real social life, but that's typical in grad programs, especially ones like this, where the campus is relatively remote and the town impoverished. Most grads commute to class and leave right away for home/work.

The program was very easy to get into and I currently know and have known many students who graduated from the program who were unqualified to say the least. I feel some of the professors I have encountered care more about churning out research than being an effective educator, and the quality of my education has suffered for it. Read More currently past midterms and we have yet to have a test or assignment, probably because the professor has canceled class all but two times. Making an A requires minimal effort in most classes, which frustrates me greatly. I had hoped graduate school would be a challenge, but I find myself bored more often than not. I have only had a small handful of classes to-date that have interested me. I enjoyed this university as an undergraduate, but as a graduate student, I wish I had gone elsewhere.
