Degree: Social Work

I have had the best experience with the online service at UCF. Everyone at the Social Work Department can always answer my questions and emails. Being an online student living in another state, they have always made me comfortable knowing everything will be done and they have everything under control.

It was a very good school. The professor's brought real world experience to the classroom and were always willing to help.

UCF is a great school. As a graduate student, I do not have to be on campus everyday of the school week. I only attend classes two days out of the week. I have recently completed my first semester and I can honestly say that I have had a great learning experience. I appreciate that my internship matched my career interest. The facility members that I have meet thus far a very knowledgeable and helpful when in need of help. I hate that the classes are two in a half hours long but think about it this... Read More

The graduate program is excellent! The professors are straight forward with all assignments and provide examples for what is expected. My personal con it that I have a 7:30am course, but I also know it is due to the fact that I registered kind of late. To be honest, there are way more pros than cons. For the Social Work program, there is a computer lab designed only for MSW students, there is a writing center that is well qualified to aid students in writing the best possible paper, there is a large... The Pros of graduate school is that you get a chance to get a higher degree and learn different things. On the other hand the cons are that graduate school is very expensive and it requires a lot of tasks to be completed.

My graduate program at the University of Central Florida is amazing! The staff is very helpful and they are more than willing to help with a question or a concern that I may have. The University of Central Florida's Graduate in Social Working program has many resources that are helpful. I like to utilize their computer room, study room, and printing room as well as their Facebook which allows me to connect with other graduate students at a more helpful level.

There are pros and cons to everything. You just have to make the best of it. I am being challenged and look forward to gaining more experience in this field.

Degree: Social Work

The University of Central Florida has a lot to offer. Central Florida has great social justice activity, art, music, dancing, and on and on. The programs, I fear, are what you make of them though. Our field (social work) has become incredibly competitive. I was willing to go where the work was - in my case, to Alaska - but unfortunately a great deal of people in my graduating class are either unemployed or not employed in our field. So if you go to UCF, or any University really, make sure you get... Read More

I believe that while the University of Central Florida provided a good opportunity to acquire the necessary tools for my field, there were vital components that were missing during my Graduate School experience.

The pros of my graduate program is that I will have the opportunity to get the basic training that I will need to further in my career of being a social worker. I will be surrounded by individuals who specialize in the field of social work who can better help me. I will also have the opportunity to get the hands on experience of what being a social worker entails instead of just watching. The cons of my graduate program will be my lack of financial funding to help me further my career endeavors.

The graduate program at the University of Central Florida prepared you for the real world. The dedication to following the core competencies according to the National Association of Social Work allowed students to gain insight into the importance of a social worker.

The MSW Program at UCF seems to be decently easy to get into (this can be taken as both a pro and a con). They do assign a lot of papers, but I enjoy writing. I do like how this program helps us find an internship!

The structuring of the program has made it difficult to work full-time and meet the course/internship requirements, despite the program being advertised as working student friendly. Also, the adjunct professors assigned to the evening classes many times are unorganized and lack time to organize and maintain an environment that lends itself to the success of the students. The pros of the program are my cohort. The individuals that are in my courses are passionate, smart and dedicated individuals.... Read More

The social work graduate program grants me the opportunity to help others through providing the necessary resources during these troubling times. It allows me to advise and counsel people in a positive directions teaching them how to adjust to daily living hardships. As with anything there will be a fair amount of stress which I never look forward to but it does remind me of the long-term benefit of finishing the program. In other words, stress to help me through the tests. The test academically,... Read More

The MSW program at UCF is challenging and very rewarding. In addition to a full course load, you also do an internship both years. The first year is your generalist internship and you work 15 hours per week with local agencies helping disadvantaged people throughout the community. The second year you do your clinical internship which requires 20 hours per week and involves working in a therapeutic setting with clients. The combination of hands on and classroom experience, while stressful, has been... Read More

The program is fast past and it sometimes hard to balance with a full time job. I would suggest maybe a weekend program since most of the classes are only in a two day span for 4 hours each.

I am enrolled in the 1-year Advanced-Standing Master of Social Work at UCF. I got my Bachelor of Social Work a few months ago at the same university. I enjoy the content of my graduate program however it is not rigorous coursework. I believe it is the same level of commitment as the undergraduate level of the BSW, with the exception of more reading, and it could possibly be because the BSW was preparing you for the MSW program. All of our professors have been in the Social Work field for at least... Read More
